Had to run to the mall last night, took the #Kia.
On the way there, rear pax brake was dragging.
Coming back, that one was fine, but front pax brake was dragging.
Not sure what that might mean ~~ Maybe lines? Maybe ABS module? Coincidentally gummy or failed calipers?
Guess it needs to go up on the jack when the weather improves :S

He once drove a old school bus from Philadelphia to Orange County, CA.

I had an "interesting" encounter with a road-raging #asshole yesterday. He didn't straight-up try to #murder me, but it was #disturbing. There was a lot more to it than I will show here, because I want to keep this short, I only included the latter part.
He's really a #stereotype; #unkempt, looks kind of like a meth-head, drives an absolute #POS #Chevrolet (Malibu, I think) sedan in what I assume #GM must have called "Stewed Dirt" colour, and wears a wifebeater for extra flair.
Before the video starts, he'd been ahead of me and was braking and weaving and giving me the #finger out the window and #yelling out the window and all the rest of it. I moved over to the right-hand lane so I wasn't directly behind him anymore. Where the video starts, he'd moved left into a turning lane, and slows for the light. As I pass him - I was continuing straight - I move back into the left lane, and he then stomps on the gas and pulls out of the turning lane so he's behind me.
At the light, he comes within a few inches of rear-ending me, deliberately, all while #gesticulating and moving over to be in my driver's side mirror, etc.
After I get going, he flies by me on the right (I'm not driving slowly) and then pulls in ahead of me and slams on his #brakes hard enough to lock up and #smoke the #tires.
If you're in the #Regina / #YQR area, watch out for this guy. His #SK plate is "527 MZJ", and he looks like a winning contestant from "Who's The Biggest #Loser?".

On Riding a Freshly Serviced Bike
Reading Time: 3 minutes
On Wednesday morning I rode my bike into Geneva to drop it off for a service. In the evening I went for a group ride that was heading in the direction I wanted, before leaving the group and riding for home. I didn't ride much on Wednesday, but I was tired. I believe that walking in cycling clothes, to catch a train, twice, does tire us more than walking in normal clothes.
Yesterday I went for the first proper ride with the freshly serviced bike and the experience was great. I suspect that it helps that I am more rested after last week's intense cycling, five days out of seven.
This year I rode the bike 2500 kilometres, and my bike hasn't been serviced for several years. The key reasons for this is that during the pandemic I didn't want to risk injury, and then after the pandemic I enjoyed riding, but cars frustrated me, through their behaviour.
This year, thanks to having three or four groups to ride with I am using the bike regularly.
Braking
Before the service I was riding down hills more carefully. I was riding slowly and safely, so that when I braked I didn't risk brake failure or skidding. Since the service I feel much more confident descending. I feel that the bike will do what I expect. This allows me to descend faster. I still remain safe. The key point is that I feel safer now.
Gears
Gear shifting is also much smoother now. When I tell the bike to change from one gear to another it's instant. I don't need to pedal and wait for the change. I give the order and it shifts. This is welcome when riding uphill.
Yesterday when heading up from the roundabout by the lake towards the graveyard I felt the chain slip twice. I was putting out a lot of power. I might need to have that checked. For the rest of the ride it felt fine.
Ball Bearings and Rolling Resistance
You can feel when a bike is more sluggish. With Four Season tyres I could feel more resistance. A year or two ago I could feel that my bike was slightly slower.
Now that the bike has been serviced properly I feel the difference. I feel that I am struggling less on the climbs, and that I am the limiting factor, rather than the bike.
The Home Workshop
When it comes to replacing tires and brakes I can do this myself, but for other tasks I prefer to let someone with more experience do it. While cycling uphill from the lake side towards the Signal de Bougy I had a conversation with someone who spoke about doing his own services, rather than taking his bike to a shop.
When you look at the price of the tools, bike stand and more it's easier to go to a bike shop. I would be tempted to pay for a service where I do the work, under the supervision and instruction of a mechanic.
I have tried to do my own maintenance but eventually the front brake disk on that bike jammed and I broke my arm.
I tried servicing the gears once or twice with that other bike, but I wasn't happy with the result.
And Finally
The last time my bike was serviced was during a trip to Spain and that service has lasted for up to seven years so it really was time for a proper service. I plan to do them more regularly, now that I ride so often. A well maintained bike is more pleasant to ride.

The glider's landing gear brake has been successfully bled of air bubbles. Brake lever action feels firm and stiff, not spongy. No leaks noted anywhere. I feel good about initial tests of the brake when the glider is next assembled.
1st photo - overall configuration. The bleed tube is on the left side and leads to a jar in which to collect excess brake fluid. The actual brake line is on the right, and quite thin. The orange color is outer tubing that serves as a scuff/wear protector.
2nd photo - fill the brake master cylinder reservoir with brake fluid, and keep filling it as you bleed out the air.
3rd photo - transparent/translucent tubing lets you see what is happening with the brake fluid.
4th photo - one of many bubbles that escaped as I filled the system with fluid.

Before the glider landing gear gets reassembled, I riveted new brake pads to replace the old ones.
Then I practiced a couple times to determine a workable assembly sequence that required the minimum of wrestling, fuss, and need for a third and fourth hand.
Now I can add brake fluid and bleed out the air bubbles.
This brake is supposed to have enough stopping power that I can inadvertently tip the fuselage and scrape the nose if I brake too hard. (It's no fun to do that...especially if you have an audience.)

How fast does brake fluid dissolve certain tubing?
I have read that DOT 3 brake fluid will dissolve vinyl tubing, so I won't use it in my brake system.
But how fast does vinyl tubing dissolve in DOT 3? A couple days ago I put a piece of vinyl tubing in brake fluid. I also put a piece of Tygon tubing in fluid...as a control/comparison.
So far the vinyl has not turned into a pile of goo. Perhaps it's gotten a bit softer, but only a bit.
I'll run this experiment a bit longer, but not as long as the famous Pitch Drop Experiment:

I have to take apart the glider's wheel brake piston to swap out the O-ring.
Why? Because I want to use a different brake fluid (that also works with the master cylinder), and the existing O-ring will get soft and dissolve with the new brake fluid.
I cleaned up the sides of the aluminum piston with a scotch Brite pad...and then realized that I can do a better job on surface quality without too much effort.
Wet sanding, starting with 400 grit to remove wear and tool marks...ending with Brasso metal polish and a Dremel and felt polishing pad...and it's a mirror finish.
Now I can reassemble with the new O-ring.

Brakes on one corner running a bit hot. Considering new calipers, pulled the parking brake cables.. but all three seem just fine.
Unfortunately, one side has quite a bit of play in the parking brake shaft and the other has been leaking brake fluid into the adjuster area.
Guess next spring, will probably try my hand and rebuilding these myself. Until then, adjusted and put back together.
Good chance to deep clean the wheels while they were off.

After a hiatus of over two weeks, I have a new #bike. When I took the last one in for a service, the replacement of worn out components would have been nearly as high as the cost of a new one. So I decided to retire it and to get a new one. Instead of #black, this time I’ve gone for #red which and this one has #disc, rather than #rim #brakes. I spent this morning transferring a few things over like the #BikeComputer.

For whatever reason, this year seems to have been *the* year for siezed calipers and worn brakes. Traded my #Volvo in with a siezed caliper, replaced siezed calipers on both the #Kia and #Miata (razzed up the whole brake system on that one), managed to free up a sticking rear caliper on a friends car, more rotors+pads besides. It's been .... "non-stop"?
