This stuff from #Belgie did at least save me £110, thought post-cat lambda sensor in my #GolfGTI was goosed (it threw a code) but had just got a bit clagged immediately after #remap which according to the mechanic next door can happen

Its now behaving, just as well as new sensor is about £80 and I'd need tool to fit it, its in a most awkward place to just after the turbo where the metal reaches ca. 400°C when driving and still remains fairly hot an hour after stopping engine (learned that hard way)

#Petrol additive is full of #BTX ( #benzene , #toluene and #xylene ) - not smelt those #aromatics for a while as they have been discouraged from many other products on safety grounds..

  2. Helped a work colleague do #OilService on #AudiA6 2,0 TDI - used #Sealey oil extractor to get 4,5 litres out of sump via access tube (there isn't a dipstick on this #car but there is a hole for one with a removable plastic bung).

Used oil from #diesel engine is not pleasant stuff, (I need to redo the GHS labels on the repurposed pop bottles as some oil spilled down the side and obliterated them) it is also hard to see the level in the extractor due to the sunlight

4,5 litres new 5W30 went back in + new oil filter (in awkward place to get to even though its up top) (you have to check on the display for the oil level on this #Audi !) and service indicator reset..

  3. Even an older guy like me could learn something from a pirated PDF of a early 2000s era textbook aimed at young apprentices. I'd wanted one of these caps after clouting my head on my own car's gearbox last year whilst doing the oil service, but didn't know the existed or what they were called..

  4. Resetting service interval with #OBDEleven is a bear, you need to enter data for both FIX: and ESI service intervals or else error codes and strange distances appear, and code scan warned of a flaky vacuum sender in the brake servo (originally happened back in June but didn't put up CEL, I thought it best to replace before it caused further issues!). New (aftermarket) sensor ordered (curiously it has full #VW branding), installed and error cleared off #CarMaintenance #AutoMaintenance #cars

  5. Did my first #oil #service at the weekend (after researching what was involved, they don't publish Haynes manuals for a #VWPolo 6C so got a copy of "So Wird's Gemacht".

Hardest part of the job was getting plastic cover back on (near 0 space under the ramps and the clips kept springing out), and clearing a small quantity of spilled oil (I put the drain can too near the sump plug, forgetting the oil would travel about 100mm further due to gravity) #CarMaintenance #AutoMaintenance #VW #cars

  6. This was the strange glitch, where the car had switched the headlamp beam pattern - I corrected this in the menu, then scanned the car with ODBEleven, cleared off some codes (one for when I removed the rear cluster on Saturday, and 2 about an "implausible signal" at the door which I always get every so often (probably water into the door lock). I will also double check the beam pattern before I drive home tonight! #cars #AutoMaintenance #repair #CarRepair #CarMaintenance
