/e/OS works well on my newly acquired Fairphone 4 and I like it more than I thought so I am in no hurry to switch. Still, I would love to use proper #LinuxMobile eventually and even tho I have no clue what "Partially" exactly refers to on the #PostmarketOS wiki it doesn't look too bad. Dose anyone know details on how well if at all the camera, battery life, audio and most importantly phone calls work on the device rn and what's needed to complete the implementations?

(1/2) Hey #MobileLinux folks, I haven't been around the community much in ages now and I have a few question to those who followed development more closely. I found a used #Fairphone4 for cheap and while mainline seems to have barely moved since I left (still the same base features missing for any device except the Librem5), Ubuntu Touch might be a good choice on this device. Unfortunately it had major issues last time I used it (see next post)

To anyone who struggles to get all #Chrome based apps to work on #Linux with a #Arc GPU there is a bug in the Intel media engine that prevents these apps from working even without hardware acceleration. I only experienced it on my brothers machine without #Rebar while mine with it worked fine but there seem to be reports of people with a similar issue with it enabled too. Removing the packages related to that solves the issue and setting the Flatpak driver for VAAPI to dummy works too!

I want to get #davinci_resolve working on #Fedora 42 with my now very old AMD rx480 8GB but it uses #OpenCL. The obvious choice would be #rocm but that dropped support for my GPU years ago and from what I found also causes issues with Davinci resolve for even more years. The other obvious choice would be mesas implementation but while #Rusticl improved things it's still not a feature complete implementation and rather slow. Is it smart to use the amdgpu-pro ICD with mesa drivers for this?

#askfedi To my fellow nerds out there, is #btrfs not properly compatible with #fscrypt on #Fedora 42 using #systemd-homed yet or did I just fuck something up? Luks works well and is more secure because it encrypts metadata but I really wanted to try dynamic encrypted home directories.

I can't believe #Mixtral 8x7B works on my hardware, that's crazy! It seems like my actual system or at least parts of it switch to the extremely slow Swap partition on my old HDD which causes a lot of lags and it takes literal minutes to load it initially but the model itself responds very fast and without any issues, now I just have to test how it compares to #Mistral 7B but if I had to guess the pure size beats the newer version in this case and probably by quite a bit!

Has anyone run #Phosh or #PlasmaMobile in #UserLAnd yet and is it even possible? So far I only used CLI distros with it but my #Pinephone is gone for a while now (the cops took it) and it would be kind of cool to get #LinuxPhone desktops to work on the #Android tablet I borrowed!

Hab gerade das neue #Ultralativ Video über #Twitter geschaut und es ist kaum vorstellbar aber diesmal ist es nochmal schlimmer bzw besser, wieder mal einfach köstlich und absolut unfassbar das ganze Chronologisch aufgelistet zu bekommen! I just installed Sync for Lemmy because I was curious what all the hype is about (never used it for Reddit) and I totally get it! The app is just plain amazing to use and light years ahead of any other Lemmy client but the free version includes Google ads and tracker and payments are done through Google Play so I can't use it properly on my degoogled phone! :(

Good news for everyone in need of a anonymous way to access #Reddit for stuff you can't find elsewhere, the following pull request should fix #Libreddit soon! I can't say that I fully understand what they are doing there but apparently the Android apps OAuth endpoint can be used to create a anonymous user and authorize requests with that to avoid rate limits, if you understood that make sure to check in and possibly help them a little! ;)

@cccfr Ihr wisst das wahrscheinlich schon aber neben #Sponsorblock (blockiert Werbung in Videos) gibt es auch noch #DeArrow vom gleichen Ersteller das Thumpnails und Video Titel crowdsourced und so Clickbait reduziert. Seit neustem ist beides neben den offiziellen Browser Addons auch in #Piped (alternatives Youtube Frontend) integriert! Ich werde in naher Zukunft sicher nicht auf Youtube verzichten können aber damit kann ichs zumindest etwas besser benutzen!

The #Reddit protest started strong but that time limit was a mistake right from the start and it's gone down hill quite a bit despite the awesome trolls on the start page. Now the 3rd party Reddit client #SyncForReddit will apparently try to switch to #Lemmy instead of shutting down, if a few more projects go that route the Lemmy app ecosystem could develope far quicker than I ever expected! I think if we want to not only hurt Reddit but also save some of the devs work that's a great strategy!

Note: Quickddit is a QT/QML based Reddit client which was developed for Ubuntu Touch but also works really well on other distros. It doesn't really look all that native in Phosh but KDEs blink based rendering engine is just so much faster and more light weight then Gnomes Webkit based one.

Note: Youplay is a Youtube music player made with GTK and Python. It doesn't look that good in my opinion but works really well. (just a little slow at times)

I finally got around to making another blog post. It's about the Liri apps on the Pinephone. Not a specially big post but I though it would be nice to take a closer look at them :D
