30°C and I'm down in the trench, cutting glass rebar. Luckily on the side of the house with afternoon shade.

First time working with this stuff. Its nice and light, easy to cut yet has higher tensile strength (for the same diameter) than steel. Itches a tiny bit, but nowhere near as bad as fibreglassing a boat hull in Greece 🤣

Unrolling it is a bastard though. The 6mm is not so bad since I just need short pieces, but the 10mm reel will remain a garden ornament until I've used it up. Well, it said to have two people and I didn't 😝

Before I shoveled the bottom level and cleared around the foot rocks that will remain and have to be insulated around. They support the huge slabs the house sits on so I felt it best to not wiggle them.

The trench is as long as I dare, and the right depth. Some big rocks had to be pried out so the insulation can go deep enough.

Peeled off the wooden flashing and the bottom siding board as well, revealing the bottom log for the first time. Not great, not terrible. Old insect damage, a bit of dry rot here and there and some ants living in one spot.

Someone had been in there and messed around with concrete. That needs to come off. Luckily its mostly falling off on its own.

Then made a complete hash of unsproinging a 100m fibreglass rebar roll all over the yard :blobcattableflip:

The rest was spent measuring, agonizing, deciding and making jigs.

Oh, and a rock fastener trial.

Anyone out there with a Lenovo ThinkStation P360 can let me know if it has ReBar support and if you can send me pictures of the Advanced -> CPU features uefi page?

Yeah, docs say it has rebar support and point you to Nvidia stuff. My P340 also has rebar support, but it’s only if it detects an nvidia card. Almost like it’s a whitelist.

I know about the uefi and bios chip hacks, but nothing stating it’s worked on a P340 or if it’s needed on a P360. I’ll probably try them anyway if I can’t find a solid answer.

Please boost for visibility. I’d really like to avoid having to build a machine.

To anyone who struggles to get all #Chrome based apps to work on #Linux with a #Arc GPU there is a bug in the Intel media engine that prevents these apps from working even without hardware acceleration. I only experienced it on my brothers machine without #Rebar while mine with it worked fine but there seem to be reports of people with a similar issue with it enabled too. Removing the packages related to that solves the issue and setting the Flatpak driver for VAAPI to dummy works too!
