2nd playthrough was back in August 2023. I used a 13 year old laptop (now 16) as a dedicated streaming machine because I was also running PiHole, OPNsense and also SearXNG, Libreddit (which is replaced by redlib), and Invidious on the same gaming rig, still with same specs, all of it in a vm.

I was still finding a suitable, reasonably powered device to run them all but yeah. Times were hard, kinda.

S tím co píšeš souhlasím, nicméně si stejně myslím že koncový uživatel co si pořizuje nebo "nedej bože" staví vlastní počítač pro soukromé účely (takže třeba typicky nějaký Tebou trefně zmíněný gamer) je Microsoftu úplně jedno. MS zajímají výrobci HW pro firemní zákazníky.

U "běžných" lidí ve svém okolí, což byli třeba moji spolužáci na VŠ, jsem se setkával s tím, že nemají soukromé počítače ale pouze pracovní od korporátů.

Další nápovědou k tomu že dnešní MS z mého pohledu zajímá jen firemní nebo řekněme korporátní sektor je jeho revenue split viz. obrázek/graf.

Not sure if this issue is only prevalent to me but my Libreddit / Redlib instance keeps going down every 24 hours - causing me having to setup a cronjob for it to restart every 24 hours. Not entirely sure if this issue only happens for the Dockerized version but I remembered a loooooooooooong time ago when I had libreddit installed as source, the downtime was a lot less. Anyone having this issue?

So I'm working on a #NixOS module for #farside (https://github.com/benbusby/farside) #proxy and had a thought:

All the frontend proxies (#Nitter, #Libreddit, etc.) hit the rate limit really quickly.

Would it be viable to federate the frontends to avoid this? i.e. fetch a limited amount of content, share what they've already fetched via federation, and query other federated frontends for content before querying the actual API?

Anyone see any potential issues with this idea?

Good news for everyone in need of a anonymous way to access #Reddit for stuff you can't find elsewhere, the following pull request should fix #Libreddit soon! I can't say that I fully understand what they are doing there but apparently the Android apps OAuth endpoint can be used to create a anonymous user and authorize requests with that to avoid rate limits, if you understood that make sure to check in and possibly help them a little! ;)

If you use #Libreddit as a #Reddit front-end and want to stop seeing posts and comments from certain troll-ish users (it *is* Reddit, after all), here are a couple of uBlock Origin filters to try:

DOMAIN##.post:has(.post_author:has-text(u/USER))
DOMAIN##.comment_right > .comment_data:has-text(u/USER) + .comment_body

Replace "DOMAIN" with the domain for your Libreddit instance and "USER" with the offending user's username, drop it into "My filters" in your uBO settings, and save!

As an aside, I am really enjoying using #libreddit to browse reddit.

The layout, speed (and lack of ads) just makes the experience so much better.
