#fairphone4 — Public Fediverse posts

I've been using the Fairphone 4 for the past month, since my old phone started expanding. (You don't want your phone to expand! 😱)

It's running /e/OS (a deGoogled Android fork built on LineageOS), since Murena's the Fairphone's only US reseller. I like the repairability, but it's a bit clunky (not to mention an older model). Fortunately my bank apps work with microG, and once I signed into Google (I know, I know) I can use apps I've paid for. But it doesn't handle system-level in-app purchases (yet?).

I've written up a pair of reviews with more details, one of the hardware and another focusing on the /e/OS software.

Cause I'm in OTA update lock on my #Fairphone4 because of the silly bug in the OTA stack.

Came in July 2022 from a Nokia C2-05 (loved it!) with a critical stance on smartphone data privacy, direct to #Fairphone4 with #murena /e/OS.
It was the #Fairphone and the #privacy that I searched for on the internet.
I'm happy with it, everything I need works on it.

Also scheint GrapheneOS schon etwas aktueller zu sein 🤔

Nice surprise: The new 🖼️ "Fairphone Gallery" app is not just available on the Google Play Store for the FAIRPHONE 4️⃣, 5️⃣ and 6️⃣ now, it also just installed (and works) on my own FAIRPHONE 3️⃣+ on /e/OS 4.2-a15-20260816663281-community-FP3. /u

Beim Telefonieren höre ich das Gegenüber fast nicht. Scheint ein bekanntes Problem zu sein...

Gibt es ein Work-around? Lautsprecher und Kopfhörer eher unerwünscht...

Mit etwas Anlaufschwierigkeiten ist nun /e/OS auf dem Fairphone4 eingerichtet.

Die original Tastatureinstellungen haben nicht so richtig funktioniert. Darum mit Fossify Tastatur ersetzt...

Ich habe gerade das Display an meinem #Fairphone4 ausgetaudcht. War zwar viel mehr Fummelei als in dem Anleitungsvideo, in dem es zugegebenermaßen auch viel zu simpel aussah, aber es hat geklappt!

I just upgraded my UbuntuTouch phone operating system on my FairPhone4. 4G voLTE and 5G is working. I can't describe how cool this is. I've been living with 2G for the past 2 or 3 years.

Mein #Fairphone4 läuft seit Langem mit LineageOS. Regelmäßige Updates, Android 16, Security Patch Level Juli 2026.

Seit Neuestem kann ich die TK-App nicht mehr nutzen, weil mein Gerät angeblich gerootet ist. Warum sie das glaubt, erfährt man weder in der App noch auf tk.de.

Muss ich jetzt ernsthaft mein Handy rooten, nur um einer App dann vorgaukeln zu können, dass es nicht gerootet ist?

Login über die Website funktioniert auf demselben Gerät problemlos 🤦‍♂️ reine Schikane
