  1. So, Uber asked me if removing UberX (the standard option) would make me sad. They wanted to know if I'd choose a different option or leave the platform entirely.

In all honesty, that would allow only the newer, eco-friendly vehicles to run around, so that's something. The prices aren't any higher, especially if you choose the wait&save option.

The downside, from what I've noticed, is that (all???) EVs have ad displays in the back. Look, I want to do my part and reduce CO₂ emissions, but I absolutely detest ads. Plus, I'm paying for my ride. At least make them free, you know, like those awful mobile games that people play in the bathroom.

  7. Driverless robotaxis hit the streets of London.

London is entering the era of autonomous vehicles: driverless cabs are now available through Uber and British tech firm Wayve in the capital.

It marks a setback for Google’s Waymo and Chinese giant Baidu, which have been eyeing Europe as a largely untapped market for autonomous vehicles.

Wayve now plans to expand to Tokyo and 10 other cities with Uber.

  9. Uber launches robotaxis in London – ahead of Waymo and Baidu

Uber offers rides with Wayve robotaxis in London. US ride-hailing service thus overtakes Waymo, which said in late 2025 that it would bring robotaxis to London.

  10. This is not a good look for #Uber. Honestly, they will be easily replaced by less expensive rivals in Nigeria 🇳🇬 (I rarely used Uber when traveling through Nigeria 🇳🇬).

My theory: Uber is struggling (they announce layoffs recently) & they are preparing themselves to be purchased by rivals.

  13. #Uber and #Wayve have launched supervised autonomous rides in #London, marking the first public #autonomous trips in the #UK.

Some UberX, Uber Electric and Uber Comfort passengers may be matched with an all-electric #Ford #Mustang Mach-E using Wayve’s #AI Driver, at no extra cost. Riders can accept the vehicle or switch to a conventional ride before it arrives.

A trained, TfL-licensed private hire driver will remain onboard to supervise journeys during the initial phase. The service will start with a small fleet and expand gradually based on demand, safety, readiness and regulation.

London-based Wayve has trained its AI on the capital’s roads since 2018. Its #technology learns from experience and is designed to handle complex roads without relying on traditional high-definition maps or hand-coded rules. More than 140,000 London Uber users have opted in to increase their chances of being matched with a Wayve vehicle.

  14. 🚗💨 Oh no, Uber's feeling too posh for #Nigeria and #Uganda. Apparently, they've decided the locals' money isn't trendy enough. Who knew that #selective #operations could be so... *exclusive*? 🙄📉
