  1. @theleftistlawyer I've been happy and impressed that when the Academic Personnel Office has had meetings for AP analysts, introductions have routinely included pronouns along with name and department.

  6. The covers of local government documents reveal how public institutions saw themselves and how they wanted to be seen.

Earlier designs were text-heavy, formal, and purely functional. After the late 1960s, covers shifted toward images of families, neighborhoods, and shared spaces, reflecting values of inclusion, participation, and community.

  11. Eight years ago today, I went on strike as a member of the Graduate Teaching Fellows Federation. We struck against the University of Oregon. I walked this picket line for 8 days in the rain in early December and we WON 100% of our demands--an absolute total victory. Today, 8 years later, University of California is on strike. I stand with them. Fight for a fair contract! You WILL defeat them! Solidarity! #ucstrike #ucberkeley #FairUCNow #UAW2865 #UCURising

  12. #Patriots #QB #DrakeMaye is taken out of rest of game for #HeadInjury evaluation. Earlier the young #QuarterBack had just run in Patriots only TD of half against NY #Jets, led by veteran QB #AaronRodgers who was drafted into #NFL from #UCBerkeley back in 2003 when opposing QB Maye was still a toddler.

  13. Neat science: for 20 years, the UC Berkeley forestry folks have been running an experiment to see which of:
    - thinning,
    - controlled burns,
    - both those,
    - suppressing fires

results in the healthiest forest. Results: everything but suppressing fires is good, and thinning plus controlled burns be best. Thinning results in enough lumber to pay for the work.

She is still at UC Berkeley, & still doing her thing.

According to a letter made on behalf of Indigenous scholars & former students "We demand that Elizabeth Hoover resign from her position as Associate Professor of Environmental Science, Policy, & Management (ESPM) & leave UC Berkeley."

    Eloquently said: docs.google.com/document/u/1/d

  15. 💧🏛️ Early 1900s California cities in action!

Pamphlets from San Diego, Pasadena & San Jose reveal how California cities tackled water planning, civil service reform & public health during the Progressive Era.

  16. 🧵 UC Berkeley’s California Local Government Documents Collection, hosted by the Internet Archive, makes local planning treasures accessible. The 1990 Loyola Corners Neighborhood Commercial Center Specific Plan (Los Altos) shows how specific plans help cities tailor design, circulation & development standards to local needs while balancing growth & community character.
