Es heißt wieder einmal packen und weiter ziehen. Wir wollen diese Ecke von Schottland hier bei Mallaig verlassen und nach über 14 Jahren wieder mal auf die Isle of Skye abhängen.
Die letzten Jahre haben uns Hinweisschilder und auch Berichte von der mit Touristen überlaufenen Insel davon abgehalten. Es muss da zwischenzeitlich echt schlimm gewesen sein, vor allem für die Einheimischen, während der Hauptsaison.
Da ich ja weiß, dass es in UK nette Spaßvögel gibt und das schon seit [...]

Meine Fresse, in #Portree ist die Touristen Hölle los.
Wir sind zwar selber teil von aber meine Fresse.
Kein Wunder das die Isle of Skye seit Jahren als über laufen beschrieben wird, das war ja auch ein Grund warum wir hier schon sehr lange nicht mehr waren.

i do have a pair of sturdy hiking boots though. and i'm not averse to cycling if it's an e-bike and i don't have to bring it with me all the way from Norway.
usually, whenever i travelled, i booked tickets and hotels/hostels in advance. i guess buying bus/train/ferry tickets for same day departure wouldn't be a problem, but how do i find a place to sleep in, say, #Portree #PortRìgh or #Stornoway #Steòrnabhagh when i get there? -

Another nice picture of the sky from last night. This is taken from the Kiltaraglen track off the Staffin road. One of the few remaining place names to evidence the ancient name for #Portree or #PortRigh coming from the Gaelic "Cill Targhlain" or 'the church of St. Talarican'.
Ironically, another place you can find Kiltaraglen is in the very modern #AssasinsCreed game #Valhalla, where the settlement at Portree is named Kiltaraglen.

A view taken above #Portree, from Drumuie, looking East before the snow melted.
Fingal's seat on the right obscures the more famous peaks of the Black Cuillin, but as the view continues to the left you can make out Glamaig and some of the red hills around Beinn na Caillich. On the left, much closer, Ben Tianavaig guards Portree harbour.
The sheep were much more interested in me than the view 🐑🙂

Heres my contribution to the orange and blue oeuvre of film work ...sort of...😄
The bright orange of the artificial street lights near the coach park contrasting nicely with the deep blue of the sky. Also, Orion, hanging out there above Fingal's seat.
There may be other juxtapositions in there somewhere but I'll leave the interpretation to you 🙂

The sudden and heavy snowfall this evening turned the village almost monochrome. The traffic signals and the bark of the tree the only suggestion there was still colour in the world 🙂
No editing here at all, just what the camera "saw" as it tried to make sense of the sense of the world ❄️

Another great night for viewing the aurora in Skye. This was in town with a touch of light pollution so it must be very special for anyone with #ClearSkies away from the streetlights 🙂
Once again, dog in one hand, phone in the other.... I'd have missed this had I not been taking pooch for a walk before bed.. I've probably reached the limits of "One handed photos of an aurora, propped against a tree" 😀

The Scorrybreac Circuit is a walk from Portree. It provides a range of different terrains starting out along the shores of the Loch. Brodie enjoys all of it as there are plenty opportunities for snuffling as well as meeting other dogs. Here he is near the beginning. The walk only takes an hour and you can read more about it here:

Great example of hair ice found in the local wood. An ice formation that depends on the presence of a certain type of fungus in wet rotting wood.
