  3. I spent the last week working outside, continuing with the survey project that I started earlier this summer.
It was wet and miserable for most of the time!
Wednesday in particular was awful. I gave up when water was running down the *inside* of the my anorak sleeves and pouring out like faucet!
I take pictures to jog my memory when later writing reports, and I present the best of them here, which ain't saying much!

  9. At first it was fun. I won her trust with my suet nibbles (not a euphemism) and she would come and find me when she was pregnant or her young wanted food.
Four months and three broods later, I feel harassed 😆
Here she is, waiting outside my office window so she can get some food for her current juvenile.
I write 'waiting', but most of the time she flaps around, outside the window, banging into it until I get up and drop some food to the ground below 🦅 🐦‍⬛ 🪺 🍗

  11. I'm in Inverness.
Lots of sirens, and a (coastguard?) helicopter buzzing overhead.

    What's going on?

  13. A nice trip out on the water on Dolphin Mischief yesterday in lovely conditions (a bit cloudy and drizzly this morning) with groups of dolphins around the Chanonry Narrows including this very cute and still very pale year old baby, Spirtle's second calf. #Nature #Wildlife #Inverness

  15. It was a lovely evening earlier so I went for a quick stroll around Foyers and scrambled up a small rock that usually has a good view to the south, towards Whitebridge, Fort August and Fort William (eventually).
Expecting to take some photos, I found that the best view at this particular moment in time was actually across Loch Ness to the west, where the sun was blazing in the sky. I pointed my phone and took a quick picture without much thought. It turned-out pretty good, I think.

  17. Happy Thursday everyone I hope you are all well and having a good week

    1. I have applied for the first job in Inverness (we wish to relocate here) since I resigned from my previous Purchase Ledger job back in April
    2. The mornings are deliciously cool so all of the windows are open to help cool the house down after the climate change induced heatwaves in the UK
    3. Cat Mail Co is a lovely chill sorting PC game which I am loving at the moment

  19. Stagecoach has showcased its Chargd business-to-business electric vehicle charging network at a launch event in Cambridge as it expands the service across the #UK. Six depots are now operational in #Cambridge, #Oxford, #Inverness, #Stockton, Ash Grove in #London and #Dover, with nine more planned later in 2026 across #Scotland, London, the Midlands, the North East and #Yorkshire. Around 25 representatives from local business groups and industry partners attended presentations before seeing the charging facilities in operation at the Cambridge depot. Chargd gives commercial fleets, including HGVs, access to Stagecoach’s rapid-charging #infrastructure. The operator says the initiative supports businesses switching to electric vehicles while making greater use of its existing depot network, as part of its wider ambition for a zero-tailpipe emission bus fleet by 2035.

    I took #London-#Inverness #CaledonianSleeper 3 years ago.

Compared to ÖBB #nightjet in #Germany, I had much better sleep (and I'm not an easy sleeper...) : the track is noisier (tack-a-tack) but this actually is sufficiently monotonous to help rather than prevent sleep, and we had much fewer stop-and-goes (in Germany, train stops, reverses, re-reverses in fully lighted railway complexes, which woke me up a couple of times)

  24. My apologies to everyone who was subjected to many posts from me today regarding GDPR and data protection.

They were probably annoying if you weren't interested. I wont post any more about the matter from here.

For light relief, here are some garden pictures from what has been the first truly warm day for around 4 weeks now. There's some brief commentary in the alt-text.
