  2. The Kessock Bridge near Inverness, seen from North Kessock. The bridge opened in 1982 and was the most southerly of the "Three Firths" crossings that helped bring the far north much closer to the rest of Scotland. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/inv

  3. It is not usual for one Mason to be Master of more than one Lodge consecutively, and many jurisdictions expressly forbid it. However, Victor Dover was Master of the oldest English Lodge - Royal Somerset and Inverness Lodge 4 - and the then youngest Lodge - Swakely Lodge 6634 - in 1948.

  4. With an #InterCity 125 #HST, operated by #ScotRail 🇬🇧 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 under the brand name #inter7city, from #Inverness to #Glasgow over the single track Highland Main Line. At #Pitlochry, roughly half way, we have to wait for about 10 minutes in order to let an oncoming #LNER #Azuma service from London pass.

  5. #Thurso 🇬🇧 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 is said to be Britain’s northernmost train station. I travel from here to #Inverness over the “Far North Line”. My first train trip after a couple of days on ferries. (Shetland locals told me the other day that Bergen in Norway was geographically, as the crow flies, the closest station for them.😉)
This is a particularly scenic one, among all these scenic railway lines up here, as it combines highland and sea shore views.

  6. The slight defects in gravity were hardly noticeable at #Inverness Castle today.

  7. I spent the last week working outside, continuing with the survey project that I started earlier this summer.
It was wet and miserable for most of the time!
Wednesday in particular was awful. I gave up when water was running down the *inside* of the my anorak sleeves and pouring out like faucet!
I take pictures to jog my memory when later writing reports, and I present the best of them here, which ain't saying much!

Josephine Tey – The Daughter of Time

The Lost Ladies of Lit podcast speaks to Tey’s biographer, Jennifer Morag Henderson, about the double life that let Tey rocket to stardom while also flying under the radar in her home town of Inverness

  10. At first it was fun. I won her trust with my suet nibbles (not a euphemism) and she would come and find me when she was pregnant or her young wanted food.
Four months and three broods later, I feel harassed 😆
Here she is, waiting outside my office window so she can get some food for her current juvenile.
I write 'waiting', but most of the time she flaps around, outside the window, banging into it until I get up and drop some food to the ground below 🦅 🐦‍⬛ 🪺 🍗

  11. I'm in Inverness.
Lots of sirens, and a (coastguard?) helicopter buzzing overhead.

    What's going on?

  12. A nice trip out on the water on Dolphin Mischief yesterday in lovely conditions (a bit cloudy and drizzly this morning) with groups of dolphins around the Chanonry Narrows including this very cute and still very pale year old baby, Spirtle's second calf. #Nature #Wildlife #Inverness

  13. It was a lovely evening earlier so I went for a quick stroll around Foyers and scrambled up a small rock that usually has a good view to the south, towards Whitebridge, Fort August and Fort William (eventually).
Expecting to take some photos, I found that the best view at this particular moment in time was actually across Loch Ness to the west, where the sun was blazing in the sky. I pointed my phone and took a quick picture without much thought. It turned-out pretty good, I think.

  14. Happy Thursday everyone I hope you are all well and having a good week

    1. I have applied for the first job in Inverness (we wish to relocate here) since I resigned from my previous Purchase Ledger job back in April
    2. The mornings are deliciously cool so all of the windows are open to help cool the house down after the climate change induced heatwaves in the UK
    3. Cat Mail Co is a lovely chill sorting PC game which I am loving at the moment
