Es heißt wieder einmal packen und weiter ziehen. Wir wollen diese Ecke von Schottland hier bei Mallaig verlassen und nach über 14 Jahren wieder mal auf die Isle of Skye abhängen.
Die letzten Jahre haben uns Hinweisschilder und auch Berichte von der mit Touristen überlaufenen Insel davon abgehalten. Es muss da zwischenzeitlich echt schlimm gewesen sein, vor allem für die Einheimischen, während der Hauptsaison.

rb131 – SCO – Wandern von Arisaig nach Rhu Beach – 2023-07-15
Für heute hatten wir uns eine Wanderung vorgenommen, Start ist Arisaig und von dort aus wollten wir zu einem Sandstrand, der Rhu Beach laufen.
Laut https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=14/56.8965/-5.8912 sollten es nur 7,7 km für eine Richtung sein. Das dürfte auch so ziemlich hingekommen sein.
Kaum das wir losgelaufen waren, kamen wir an diesem Schaukelparadies vorbei. Aber auch so war das eine sehr schöne Route, immer in Küstennähe entlang.

Aufstehen, Tee trinken und Umgebung genießen, so fängt mein Tag immer an. Ich mag das so früh allein mit der Natur, auch wenn sie nicht immer freundlich ist.
Die Kinder ihre Kreativität laufen lassen und Muscheln gesammelt und bemalt. Da sind wirklich tolle Sachen zusammen gekommen.
Heute stehen die White Sands of Morar auf dem Plan. Hier waren wir schon mal vor 25 Jahren, mittlerweile gibt es keine gehimtipps mehr in Schottland. Wo wir früher über eine Abenteuerliche Single Track [...]

rb129 – Umzug nach Arisaig – Kinloid – 2023-07-13
Ein Urlaub ist dazu da, immer mal wieder was neues zu sehen bzw. kenne zu lernen. Neu ist die Region nicht, wo wir heute hinwollen, wir waren schon mal da, auch wenn das letzte Mal schon wieder Jahre her ist.
Bevor es losgeht, erst einmal mein Morgentee, während hinten im Zelt noch alles ruhig ist.
Es heußt packen und alles im Auto verstaunen und dann weiter nach Nordwesten in Richtung Arisaig.
Das Glen Coe macht es wieder mal sehr dramatisch. Es regnet und trotzdem sind alle [...]

Guten Abend liebe follower.
Wir sind immer noch in Schottland und jetzt so richtig angekommen.
Wir sind ja heute von Aberfoyle aus aufgebrochen, Richtung Westküste.
Heute Früh war das Wetter dort noch in Ordnung und auf der Fahrt zum nd durch das Glen Coe, hat das wetter alles gegeben.
In Fort William haben wir einen geplanten Zwischenstopp gemacht, der Frau sind die Wanderschuhe kaputt gegangen, also musste Ersatz her und wir wollten das erste mal Fish & Chips essen. Die Chippie Bude von früher, gibt es nicht mehr, wir haben aber doch noch eine gefunden aber 12£ für Fish&Chips sind echt Hammer. Füttern die die Fische mit Gold?
Geschmeckt hat es schon aber bei dem Preis kann man das nicht mehr so oft machen.
Dann noch mal bei Morrisons einkaufen und tanken und weiter ging es Richtung #Arisaig
Unterwegs haben wir noch zwei mal den Harry Potter Zug gesehen, mit Dampflock.
In Arisaig dann auf die alte Hauptstraße abgebogen und alle Zeltplätze abgeklappert in Nahe zum Strand. Alles voll und nichts mehr frei.
Wir also bis Mallaig und dort wolltennwir zur Tour info. Nur die gibt es nicht mehr. Da hat Brexit und Corona ganze Arbeit geleistet, es hat sich recht viel verändert in den letzten drei Jahren....
Wir also noch mal zurück auf der neuen Hauptstraße und kurz vor Arisaig noch ein Schild zu einem Campingplatz in die andere Richtung gefunden.
Und wir sind fast allein auf dem Platz.
Zelt aufgebaut und noch mal runter zum Atlantik, das musste sein. Abendessen haben wir auch da unten gemacht.
Ein was gutes hat der Zeltplatz noch, jeden Tag gegen 12 uhr fährt hinter unserem Zelt, der Harry Potter Zug vorbei 😁 #sco2023 #Schottland #scotland #Zelt #tent -

While the invasive hybrid R. ponticum is a huge problem in Scotland, in their home territories rhododendrons play an important role in ecology and especially soil conservation on steep slopes. The rhododendron collection at Larachmhor Garden, Arisaig is a fascinating place to learn more about rhododendrons. It was interesting to visit again some 10 years after going with NWDG in 2013.

This is the cute, almost rectangular, section of beach, shown to the right in the previous photo.
Even though the conditions were rather dark, there was still enough light to create that gorgeous pale green colour in the ocean, when there is shallow water over sand.
