"This isn’t government, this is chaos. The eventual resignation of Peter Mandelson’s right wing pal Wes #Streeting is a sure sign that Keir #Starmer’s #Labour party is preparing to go from bad to worse.
"In the middle of a cost of living emergency, the Labour party are openly telling people that their focus will be on fighting amongst themselves instead of fighting to cut people’s energy and fuel bills."

Self determination is about to get real in the UK:
‘#SinnFéin, the #SNP and #PlaidCymru have held a meeting at Westminster to discuss what they describe as “a new era of cooperation between Scotland, Wales and the north of Ireland”.
For the first time since devolution, the administrations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are all led by nationalist politicians. This has been seen as a step towards making the break-up of the UK more possible’

In Wes Streeting's resignation letter, he says, "For the first time in our country's history, nationalists are in power in every corner of the United Kingdom - including a dangerous English nationalism represented by Nigel Farage and Reform UK."
To equate Plaid Cymru, Sinn Féin, and the SNP with Reform shows how little the Labour Government understands the public mood.

@drgeraint we could all imagine the #SNP WANTING that, but wanting isn't the same as winning, and a triumphant #ReformUKLtd government wouldn't pay a blind bit of notice anyway.
This is a 'kicking the can down the road towards the oncoming tanks' strategy.

@drgeraint and how is that going to help? The #SNP won just NINE seats under #Swinney's leadership at the last #Westminster election; it will very likely lose two of those this summer in by-elections; and unless he plays an absolute blinder he'll lose a couple more at the 2029 election, to #ReformUKLtd.
How's he going to achieve anything with five MPs? They're lost in the noise.

@drgeraint the question #Sarwar really needs to ask himself is, does he want to be leader of a fading and increasingly irrelevant minor party in a devolved province, or would he rather be First Minister of an independent country?
That really is the choice. The #SNP is only held together by the issue of #ScottishIndependence — once that is won, their coalition will fall apart. There is a real opportunity there for a party of the centre left to win power and make change. Dare he?

The media are telling us the SNP failed to get a majority, and indeed they did.
BUT.
The system was set up to prevent majorities/encourage co-operation (pick one).
The SNP won 57 out of 73 seats in the constituency vote. If a party won that proportion in a Westminster election they would get 507 out of 650 seats. Yet we’re told this is a failure. -
