  6. Short stop and hop to top of mountain storr. 🤓 (Few days ago)

    #scottland #travelphotography #storr #isleofskye

The winds were quite the nice experience on the top ☺️

  7. This road looks quite different compared to two days ago when we were last here.

Before the blizzard and storm "dave" 😅

Power lines are still being repaired, though they are quite quick about it here.

  8. Some photos to raise the spirits ☺️

Over the last few days I could enjoy the awesome landscape of the isle of skye, doing some light hiking.

  9. From the Met Office: Saturday
“Early sunshine and isolated showers tomorrow morning will become replaced by cloud by midday. Through the afternoon, it will become very windy with heavy rain and heavy snow as Storm Dave arrives.
Yellow Warning: Snow or Ice. These conditions are expected by 15:00 (BST) on Saturday 4 April.”

We are expecting 16 to 20 cm of snow by 17:00 hrs.

  10. We have rescued l three batches of chickens from the British Hens Welfare Trust and they have provided us with fresh eggs for the guest house. We give them space to roam and they are well fed. They have brought us a lot of joy. It’s like having a reality show outside the window.

These 6 are now fully feathered and integrated with the rest of the family. They still like to eat from the same lunch-bowl.

  11. These are from Friday morning after a fresh fall of snow overnight on the higher tops. The statue is of Collie and Mackenzie, two of the early pioneers of climbing the Cuillins, at Sligachan on the Isle of Skye #IsleOfSkye #Scotland

  12. Waterfall ‘recycling’ at Neist on the Isle of Skye today. The strong westerly wind blowing the falling water back onto the cliffs #IsleOfSkye #Scotland

  13. Skye Night Sky. The clouds cleared last night just after sunset to give some wonderful views of the night sky. Orion, Jupiter, Pleiades and Sirius above Loch na Faolinn #IsleOfSkye #Scotland

  14. The Isle of Skye today. A strong south westerly blowing the clouds through #IsleOfSkye #Scotland

  15. The remains of Knock Castle on the Isle of Skye, with the Sound of Sleat and Knoydart in the background. The castle was built in the early 1400s on a headland that had been fortified since the Iron Age. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/sky

  17. “In fact, the trees are murmuring under your feet,
a buried empathy; you tread it.
    High over your head,
the canopy sieves light; a conversation
    you lip-read. The forest
    keeps different time;
slow hours as long as your life,
    so you feel human.

So you feel more human; persuaded what you are
by wordless breath of wood, reason in resin….”

From FOREST by Carol Ann Duffy.

  18. “Who possesses this landscape? —
The man who bought it or
I who am possessed by it?
    ~
    Who owns this landscape?
Has owning anything to do with love?
At least I know who possesses this landscape —
    the man who loves it.”

Two short extracts from Norman MacCaig's
    ‘A Man In Assynt’.

Norman MacCaig (1910-1996) was born in Edinburgh and was educated at the Royal High School, and the University of Edinburgh. He is one of Scotland’s best 20th Century poets.

  19. Last of the film pics from #IsleOfSkye, and #Scotland as a whole. This area is called The Quirang, and is even more strange landscape. If I ever get around to posting some of the digital pics I took, right after this roll of film the clouds and mist finally parted and cleared up across the ridge and allowed me to get a few wonderful color digital pics. It was beautiful.

  20. We got married yesterday. Humanist weddings are legally binding in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Jersey, and Guernsey, but not in England or Wales. You can get married anywhere here. We chose this place where the combination of big sky, water, Scots pine trees and green grass made for an idyllic setting.

So just us, our celebrant, two witnesses and a photographer. Much love in the air! We laughed and cried and it couldn’t have been a better day!

  26. Finally getting back around to posting #Scotland film pics - these are the first of the pics from #IsleOfSkye. We caught the ferry from Mallaig, and picked up our rental car at the ferry terminal. There were definitely a lot more people driving around on Skye than there was on Islay.
