The Old Man of Storr on the Trotternish Ridge is probably the most famous walk on the Isle of Skye.
The Old Man (Bodach an Stòr in Gaelic), is a 55-metre-high pinnacle of basalt rock which is all that remains of a 2,800-million-year-old volcanic plug.We took the opportunity to do this walk early(ish) this morning. Brodie came with and although on the lead the whole time as there were sheep about, his behaviour was exemplary.

There are plenty of photos of the Old Man of Storr but fewer from it as the paths around it can be a bit of a scramble. The surrounding area, including 'The Sanctuary' behind it (as usually viewed) is also well worth exploring.

With the forecast looking a bit suspect for getting back tonight through the snow and ice we stayed closer to home than originally planned where it was fine, dry and sunny ☀️

We met many visitors to #Skye today out and about enjoying the views around the Scorrybreac footpaths to the North of #Portree. Maybe here to celebrate a #happynewyear, maybe just here to enjoy the fine winter views in the sunshine 🙂❄️
The #oldmanofstorr is just about visible over the hill line from the top of the path; the circular walk takes in woodland, a coastal footpath, and a steep zigzag ascent for the best views over the sound of Raasay.
