Now the other two are ported - all the #analogue #trunks are ceased and all traffic to and from the #PSTN from this #PBX is now #VOIP (using #PJSIP trunks on #FreePBX )
I disconnected all the analogue lines as #Openreach leave battery on them, that way they show as RED alarm on #Asterisk and won't be selected for any calls (worst case is they return a busy trunk status and the route will go to the next trunk, but I've taken away all the analogue circuits from every PSTN route)

I made up a folder for all my #telecoms tech info (for two #PBX I built, general #SIP #VOIP and #ATA configurations and other useful stuff as much is easier to read in paper form than on the screen!)
I thought the "Trunks" cartoon from @alex was a good choice for the cover, along with the "ELEPHANT EXCHONGE" lettering from a Telephone Exchange in SE England (after #Openreach engineers moved the individual letters around) 😁
There's other stuff in the folder than the Ofcom and ITU documents, about internal configs but I can't share it for cybersecurity reasons (I will put the sanitised info on my blog at some point to help others setting up VOIP systems)

One (1) #telephone number successfully ported to #VOIP, one more left to go (there's 2 pairs for main and aux line, provisioned on same number but those will go to 3 channel #SIP trunk)
For some reason #Openreach have left battery on the pair (I would have thought they would want to recover capacity on the line card and it would just go dis, as there are still going to be a handful of customers remaining on #PSTN circuits.
I thought a lot of "analogue" trunks these days were literally just a SIP ATA connected to the copper pair at the Telephone Exchange (or from a street cabinet) but it looks like Openreach really are getting the last out of the old #SystemX kit!
There is no dialtone or even NU tone, just some noise..

Very useful #TestNumbers (for #UK #IE #USA #CA and #MX ) for testing all kinds of #telephones (from your #mobilephone to #VOIP and even any remaining #landlines) - they provide the same level of tests that #Openreach and other telcos have access to, you can check if #DTMF is working well and that #codecs or poor #network conditions aren't mangling the audio..

Wow. An #OpenReach truck just rolled up and is preparing to lay Fibre to our street.
Finally ,it seems we will have competition on pricing for #FTTP service in our area 😉🖖

Full-fibre FTTP telegraph poles finally arriving in our village. Don’t know why they couldn’t just use the existing poles, and of course they’re ugly compared to underground ducting, but it’s high time the local Virgin Media monopoly was broken. #broadband #OpenReach #fttp

This large "house" in #Stowmarket #Suffolk #England might look a bit unusual - round the corner you can see why - it is the local #TelephoneExchange ! (it is apparently going to be kept after analogue circuit switch off, as its used as a handover point for #fibre circuits)

Anyone out there with #ZenInternet FTTP via #OpenReach having problems?
Mine went down at around 16:19 and I’m getting pppoe errors on the router (“unable to complete pppoe discovery phase 1”). Tried rebooting the ONT and router to no avail 😕

Is there anyone I can email or contact in some way about #BT #Openreach 's #FTTP roll out? They've done half my street but not the other half, and the fibre checker website says that there are no plans to build in my area. They've literally stopped 4 doors down from me - the next telephone pole along has FTTP but mine has #FTTC

Hey folks!
Sorry again for being so quiet on fedi recently! Just been so busy!
Some good news to share though: today we got confirmation from our ISP that we've finally been connected up to the OpenReach full fibre network 🥰
This means we'll now be able to move from our current FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) connection to a FTTP (fibre to the premises) one.
Our current connection maxes out at 80 Mbit/s down and 20 Mbit/s up.
We're currently looking at upgrading to the up to 900 Mbit/s down and 100 Mbit/s up service 😁
Faster internet go brrr.

Really grateful to our ISP Zen and an Openreach engineer at 8am for a big speed boost to our home Internet. We finally switched from slow ADSL to fibre to the cabinet + VOIP for our long term landline number. Faster connections especially help my hardware/software engineer husband working from home. #broadband #fibre #FTTC #SoGEA #landline #DigitalVoice #VOIP #ISP #Zen #Internet #WFH #WorkingFromHome #Openreach #ADSL #PartFibre #ZenInternet #ZenBroadband

Can someone give me a TL;DR on porting landline numer to voip but keeping landline with my current #ISP I can see there might be potential issues, I'm just not sure of the process and if I've thought about all the potential problems.

No sign of #OpenReach yet. Text message yesterday said:
"A final reminder that we'll be arriving to install your Full Fibre tomorrow between 8AM-1PM. We won't be able to tell you exactly what time we'll be there, but our engineer will call you when they're on their way.
As we were unable to complete your installation during our last visit, we're treating this as a high priority. We'll do everything we can to make sure your installation is successful."
