So, broadband provider (Sky - don't ask, I know...) has sent a text saying that an engineer will call to install #FullFibre later this month. No number to call if it's inconvenient.
Tried to call them today. After 5 attempts when the 'bot' cdn't understand "cancel engineer", "cancel appointment" and several other alternatives I gave up. Tried online, again only a bot available and couldn't understand the phrases I used.
When the contract ends, that's it. I've had enough! GAH!

That's it, I've gone for a Full Fibre service from Plusnet.
I had yet another 4G outage, from Three, that lasted for nearly a week. I'm hoping the Full Fibre service is going to be much more reliable.
Installation should be happening sometime next week. We'll see if that goes smoothly.

Just got an email from BT Openreach (did I ask for notifications when we moved here 5 years ago?) saying they're rolling out full fibre (Openreach are literally round the corner from me).

Looks like the move to full fibre has given me an active digital voice line (that i can dial out on at daft payg prices circa 20p a min with 19p connection charge or pay £6 a month for 1000 minutes...er...no thanks) though it does mean that i have a 2nd Glasgow phone number that nobody will ever call (unless i start handing it out). An embarrassment of riches.

After a lot of chats to Zen broadband I'm assured the city fibre upgrade won't open me up to future price increases so after prevaricating on it further I'll see if I go for the upgrade. I don't need to quadruple my speed but hey an increased upload speed would be handy. Can't quite understand getting a new Fritz router but guessing I get a fibre connection into the property, not an ADSL phone connection? #broadband #UK #Glasgow #CityFibre #FullFibre

Actually got an email (again) from a broadband company that I left my email with to tell me that I could now get full fibre. Go to their website. Start the process. Put in my address and guess what?

So months back they dug up the road. City fibre put cables down to upgrade . Keep getting junk mail inviting me to upgrade my broadband... "it's here. Full fibre. Upgrade now" and each time I check someone out and put my address in it just says "on our way. We'll let you know when full fibre is available in your area". It really is a metaphor for the un-joined up way much of the UK "works". #UK #broadband #FullFibre #bollocks

Full Fibre upgrade order submitted. We've been using Zen Internet since 2015, and made sure to move with them up here to Edinburgh last year. Have been flawless in every aspect this entire time.
A dream of mine is to wire this house up with ethernet to every room, get a Ubiquiti router setup with house coverage, and setup on-site data backup.
Right now, it's just one router doing all the work. Maybe an Autumn project?
