There is renewed questioning whether the AV1 & AV2 codecs are patent encumbered and royalty-free or not pending the outcome of the Dolby vs. Snapchat lawsuit. I already use the AV1 codec and it works well. I'd be disappointed if it was no longer a royalty-free option.

What do I do about "no video with supported format and mime type found" in firefox on linux? Many videos aren"t playing, while youtube works without problems.
If I open the not working vids in chromium, there are no problems either. If I download and mplay/vlc them, no problem. If I download them and open them locally: problem.
I"ve a fresh installation (including no prior profile dir), have installed betterfox, ublock - nothing different than my other systems. I simply cannot see some vidz. :(

finally back to editing the video, and I've now found that FFV1 mostly does not have hardware accelerated encode/decode on Linux yet (ffmpeg shipped major improvements last summer, but ffmpeg is not VLC or Kdenlive)
that's too bad, because it's a lot more space-efficient than HuffYUV, but if my (fairly ancient) laptop chokes on 1080p30 playback due to using the CPU exclusively, I can't use it.

Una pregunta sobre codecs de audio y contenedores.
Estoy ripeando música en FLAC a Opus y veo que Fre:ac me da la opción de meterla en contenedor .opus o en contenedor .oga, me imagino que el contenedor opus es preferido, aunque sea mimetype Ogg, así que la cuestión sería ¿usar opus u oga? y en caso de opus por encima de oga con que codecs de audio se recomienda .oga y pregunta bonus he bisto que se puede encapsilar Flac en .ogg ¿que usos tiene eso? -

Have you ever encountered VLC unable to play a .mkv file when your machine is plugged into hdmi? I have this .mkv file that will play fine on my MacBook screen, but if I plug an hdmi cable into my MacBook to output to a projector, VLC just shows a black screen, even after restarting VLC.
