India follows strategic autonomy, not bloc politics. We buy oil based on price and risk, not loyalty. If better, safer discounts emerge, we switch. Reducing Russia purchases won’t hurt us, diversification is strength, not betrayal.
We are pragmatic, our:
- Foreign policy is not dictated
- If another country (even via US-backed Venezuelan supply) offers better discounts, India should switch
No one is anyone’s true ally. In politics, nations have to think pragmatically rather than emotionally. Russia-India trade is in surplus for Russia, meaning Russia sells us more and we buy more from them. They only have oil and defense to export to us, and even in that we face losses, there is no real gain. If Russia has nothing to buy from us, then sorry, we have to diversify. We will do what brings us profit.
