British Columbia Premier David Eby says projects should not have priority because a premier threatens to leave the country. He wants Ottawa to work as closely with BC on its projects as it's doing for Alberta's proposed pipeline, which lacks a proponent or a route. Canadian PM Mark Carney announced today Alberta's bitumen pipeline-to-Asian-markets is moving forward and could be designated a project of national interest by Oct 1.

This would give it an estimated 24.5% stake in the company, which operates 16,000 km of oil and gas pipelines and storage terminals across the United States. Alice Yang, managing director of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board's "Sustainable Energies" group, also sits on the Tallgrass board. Patrick DeRochie, senior manager with Shift Action for Pension Wealth and Planet Health told The Energy Mix this is just one example he’s tracking that shows the fund is “making a big bet on gas to power data centres.”

Everyone deserves to hold an opinion and, when opportunity arises, to express it. Just because you allege @johnquiggin is owned by #FossilFuels peddlers, it does not ipso facto invalidate his opinion (you may not agree with that opinion, but that’s ok). If you read him in this case, he makes a good arguement for splitting the AEMO’s remit and advocates the cleavened part to be publically owned and operated.Just because Karl Marx is, well, a marxists, doesn’t mean I shouldn’t read him when I firmly believe that capitalism can work with more guardrails in place. I am reminded ot the adage that talks about baby and bathwater here. Still you have a right to your opinion. I just don’t agree with it. You also conflate a lot of separate issues to bulk up your view here (not a personal criticism here, just an observation).
Oh.. and you don’t have to like Quiggin, or even read him if you don’t wish to. And that ok too. Always happy to discuss, as long as the issue/topic is clear and free of diversions.
