Donald Trump's administration is filled with people who are bad planners and thinkers.
The punditry class is only slightly better than them. Ask them -- administration folks, supporters, and pundits alike -- what to do about the war in Iran and you'll find their answers predicated on hope: hope that a new MOU will solve everything; hope that there's a pain point in which Iran's leaders will capitulate; hope that a ground war seizing some islands will be leverage to cause Iran to capitulate; hope that if enough IRGC and leadership are killed, the rest will cave; etc., etc., etc..
There is only one way out: Walk away.
It's not a good solution at all -- there is no such thing here -- but it is the best available, and all the downsides are built in already, no matter how long we wait. And, we don't have time on our side. So stop believing in the bullshit. The hard truth is, we've already lost and the longer we stay, the worse it gets.
