Country Joe McDonald was not only key to my musical discovery in my late teens, but his music has become even more important to me as I have become a musician myself in my later years. I cover quite a few of his songs, including the beautiful "Janis." Between his death and John Hammond Jr.'s, I've lost a couple of personal musical icons this week.
