Oh damn. Naev 0.13.0 is out. Merry christmas everyone!
This one packs a few new missions, and a lot of incremental improvements to the engine (notably, a migration to SDL3 and the start on the Rust rewrite) as well as the game's overall balance and feel.
Read the announcement now now now now:

Naev 0.13.0-beta.2 is out!
A few issues have been fixed, but by far the most notable change in this (pre-)release is the swap to lossy assets. Naev will now use lossy AVIF and less bloated Vorbis files internally (with support for Opus audio on the way)
Already the game's download sizes have been slashed by 60-70%!!

Was stuck the past week(s) in my #lisp implementation in #zig on #closures, as they provide an real challange with their capturing properties. Espc bc I didn't wanted to resort to using things like arbitary "rules" to restrict the language only for closure to work, or already implementing a tracing #garbagecollector for this.
I rather choose to use #ARC (Atomically Reference counting) for this, which comes with a few problems. And as I found nobody that has solved this problem, I've come up with a solution to it myself: 'Switchable references with strongchain elemination'. A bit bulky name, and the technique is still in it's beginning, but when implemented in rust the compiler dosnt complain and valgrind dosn't detects any leaks.
I've written a fairly big blogpost about it too, including not only the whole explanation how it works but also alternatives I've considered. Check it out if you're interested!
Now I only need to translate it over to zig, but hopefully that dosnt take so long x3

About 6000 posts in and half or so year spent on this platform, I have decided to change my introduction to be less riddled with hastags and reflect me in a light where I’m more comfortable here :)
Well, let’s begin.
I’m Arija A., more commonly known as Ari Archer and welcome to my corner on the Fediverse where I screech autistic ramblings into your ear until I get tired :)
I am an autistic & transgender 17-year-old avid open source developer as well as a wannabe systems administrator coming from Lithuania who has spent more than half her life bossing computers around :’) currently I’m mainly focusing on the C and Python programming languages as well as some FASM Assembly here and there whereever applicable, though I don’t have much to show when it comes to extremely low level programming, I can do it when needed, but am in no way an expert. My fiery passion for technology is deeply intertwined with my values of democracy, freedom, shareability, and customization.
Personally, I enjoy solving practical problems, although, that doesn’t mean I like to be a number processing machine 24/7 like people like to think. I find those problems exhausting and extremely boring, sadly, it is currently my fate at school since the education system doesn’t have much to offer for people beyond the programme :( I tend to be very dissatisfied with governments and government stated overstructured and outdated systems such as the education and legal systems, I don’t believe that I identify with the label “anarchist” but more of “politicians need a reality check and I can’t believe that people can be this stupid sometimes” xD, of course, it’s not all bad, but sometimes it’s oof.
Most of my work centres around libraries, back-end web development, as well as software and tools. You may find most of my work at https://ari.lt/gh (a dynamic redirect to the main place where I house most of my code currently, should be https://git.ari.lt/ari unless something bad happened to ari-web infrastructure and if so then you shouldn’t be seeing this post in the first place :blobfoxmeltsob:).
Contacts and more about me can be found on my website at https://ari.lt/
Anyway, uh, follow me for brainrot :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

I'm the author of Latlearn, a new FOSS lib for Golang that enables custom latency instrum & reporting. eg. it enables dynamic adj's at runtime to boost QoS
Hope to raise $ to support doing MORE work to ADD features. its hard, skilled work & I cannot sustain that UNPAID
Are you an eng with extra $? use Golang? Want better perf tools?
