If Brussels backs sector and factories actually ramp up, the report reckons the EU-China cost gap could fall from 90% to about 30% by 2030 leaving a difference of roughly $14 per kilowatt-hour.
On a typical #EV, that works out at an average €500 premium for a battery made in Europe rather than imported, a figure T&E frames not as a crippling cost but as a sovereignty premium for greater #supplychain resilience.

London‑based #EVbattery diagnostics company Generational analyzed more than 8,000 battery tests across 36 automakers
Across the entire sample, #battery State of Health (SoH) remained high even as vehicles aged:
Average State of Health across all vehicles: 95.15%
4‑5‑year‑old EVs: median 93.53%
8‑9‑year‑old EVs: median 85%
High‑mileage EVs (100,000+ miles): frequently 88–95% SoH

Weekly output: FCC frees Verizon from phone-unlocking rule, Donut Lab’s solid-state battery, Wikipedia turns 25, Google traffic trends

This week brought a lot of unpleasant headlines, but none made me feel uneasy like the news that Washington Post reporter Hannah Natanson was subjected to an unexpected visit by the FBI at her house Wednesday that concluded with investigators confiscating her work and personal laptops, her phone and her smartwatch–all seized, it now seems, on a fraudulent pretext. Since then, the man who spent his equivalent of pocket change to buy the Post in 2013 has said nothing about that in public, yet another way in which Jeff Bezos has shown himself an unworthy successor to Katharine Graham and her son Don Graham.

But reading up at length on this company and on others working on better EV batteries did make me realize one thing: There’s enough innovation happening here that we don’t need Donut’s invention to work.
