The ARIA tooltip role is functionally useless and semantically meaningless. The only legitimate use-case for tooltips is to show information that’s already accessibly defined. So tooltips only benefit sighted users, and are therefore presentational.
That’s my conclusion, and here’s how I arrived at it:

Growing up in the "golden age" of home computers (1980's - 1990's), I miss when I could just sit down and to do my thing without being constantly distracted by:
- Unwarranted tooltips (Hello, Microsoft)
- Ads embedded in software (Hello, Chrome)
- Other UI clutter (Hello, most proprietary commercial software)🤮

Are #tooltips a bad idea?
They can't be activated with a mouse (e.g.: no #accessibility), nor can they be activated devices with no pointer (e.g.: tablets).
If one were to use tooltips, what fallbacks should be considered for the above scenarios?

Van alle AI-tools is Claude één van mijn favorieten. Zeker omdat Artifacts zo handig is: in plaats van in een lang chatgesprek, wordt inhoud gegenereerd in een apart scherm. Zo voert Claude bijvoorbeeld analyses voor me uit en helpt het me soms bij de opzet van artikelen, als ik wat inspiratie nodig heb.
Inmiddels heeft ChatGPT iets vergelijkbaars (maar net even anders): Canvas. Heb jij beide al uitgeprobeerd en wat is je favoriet?
