I'd heard some pretty poor reviews of The Electric State but decided to give it a watch this evening and thought it was reasonably good. Nothing surprising, nothing innovative, but an enjoyable couple of hours with nice imagery, okay set pieces, and emotional elements enough to make my wife sob a little, although that's an admittedly low bar.

How is it possible to have such a rich and mind-blowing source material, 320 millions, and end up making a weak techno-toystory? How many times are they going to tell us the story of the empathetic robot?

I created this #3D scene in my spare time three years ago, with open source software #blender and plug-ins for less than $100, inspired by a drawing from the amazing graphic novel The Electric State by Simon Stålenhag.
It really hurt to watch what #netflix did with this incredible source material and a production budget of $300 million(!). So much wasted potential.
