20 chapters into Gathering Storm and the change in writing style has been obvious but not egregious. For the most part.
Chapter 20 was the first following Mat. I’d heard that his character was particularly poorly done, but yeesh. This Mat feels like a caricature of a previously complex character who I had come to really like.
Still better than the alternative, but big oof. Let’s see if it gets any better.

For The Wheel of Time, Robert Jordan planned to have Rand kill the Dark One, trying to save the world for all time, only for Padan Fain to grow to take the Dark One's place. Brandon Sanderson finished the series and changed that to better adhere to his version of Christian beliefs.
