Discussion in today’s #CalBike policy advisory council mtg included a report on bike valet at a World Cup event, which brought to mind again BC Cycling Coalition’s bike valet tool kit. Here are updated links: Toolkit https://www.bcbikevalet.ca/contents

I am back from FOSDEM. This was quite a ride! And of course the last leg was the train 🚄 + bike 🚲 combo. My bike was waiting for me safely at the amazing Gare du nord bike parking, just 3 minutes away from the platform 🤩

Ứng dụng Dockly giúp tìm chỗ đỗ xe đạp an toàn! Ứng dụng sử dụng Next.js + Firebase, cho phép người dùng thêm vị trí đỗ xe, ảnh và thông tin chi tiết. Nhà phát triển đang tìm kiếm phản hồi về cách kiếm tiền từ ứng dụng (ví dụ: tính phí doanh nghiệp để làm nổi bật chỗ đỗ xe, bán dữ liệu ẩn danh cho thành phố).

If you're wondering what those issues are, well:
- going in and out of Reykjavik a couple of times, plus a necessary day after each to rest my knee, has wrecked my schedule.
- the stretch between Vik and Hofn is not ideal for cyclists, with distances between campsites well in excess of a single day's ride
- unrelenting heavy rain in the south for at least the next ten days

Taking the bus from Vik to Hofn addresses all three issues. #Iceland #bikeparking

Kudos to Canadian bike advocates sharing helpful resources, in particular: Thanks to BC Cycling Coalition and Capital Bike for bike event parking / bike valet templates, etc. Updated links: Toolkit https://www.bcbikevalet.ca/contents

Monterey County is among the many regions that have had bike valet parking https://bikemonterey.org/tips-for-tourists/valet-parking-service-for-cyclists at some events, but not nearly enough. (It isn’t feasible that the most frequent valet provider for many years simply can’t do it all.) We’d love to see more people providing bike valet parking here—and chances are many of you have the same need in your region.

Save yourself some time; check out those resources from generous bike advocates in Canada!

🙏 a worthy article.

I sure hope there are #bike lanes and #bikeParking racks outside the stores along this area.

"Plenty of regrets have followed the 20th-century rush to build infrastructure for cars, and some of the monstrosities that have resulted. Planners on every continent now look hard at the ways in which people can be put back at the centre of our cities."

Monterey-Salinas Transit / MST is operating a Saturday schedule on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2024. Note that there are NO LATE NIGHT BUS ROUTES THIS YEAR, except to Del Monte Center, as indicated on the First Night Monterey website. https://www.firstnightmonterey.org/FNM/ParkRide.php

Alas, we’re not attending #FirstNight2025, just biked to town for an errand at Del Monte Center today, where we shot these photos.

We've talked a lot about safely charging e-bikes of late, but what solutions exist for the buildings managers who want to continue to encourage active travel and electric bike use among staff? We had a look at the market for evolved e-bike parking, battery storage and security
