  3. I had an interesting discussion with @jon yesterday at #velocity2025 about bikes, trains and bikes on trains. Among other topics we discussed the pros and cons of obligatory bike place reservations: cost, flexibility, predictability, paranoid security concerns, bike place design, abusive booking of unneeded places etc. It's a complex issue and there does not seem to be yes or no answer.

  9. To kind of thematically fit with @jon's #velocity2025 coverage, here's some highlights of the story of Pomerania's public bike-sharing service, #Mevo:
The wild ride started when the Gdańsk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area (an intercommunal cooperation org) awarded a contract for setting up the system to Nextbike. Together, they promised thousands of bikes, all of them electric, for the insanely low price of 10 PLN/month for 90 minutes a day (or 0.10 PLN/min without a subscription). Additionally, a sort of deposit system operated for leaving bikes outside a station - doing so would cost 3 PLN, while someone taking the bike back to a station would get 2 PLN back in credit: trojmiasto.pl/wiadomosci/Mevo-

  10. He talks about about Bogota : cyclovia, simon Bolivar Park, velodrome. It happened in few years than nothing. Because CAVE people showed up (Citizens against virtually everything)

Cyclovias are low cost and high benefit.

Enrique Penalosa (brother of Gil) built 280 km of protected bike.path. we need high quality protected infrastructure because we need to dignify the people.

In new housing areas cycling were built even before houses arrived
