I'm not into inspiration so I don't have any answer ... though I suppose one might argue that deciding to write a mermaid book was beause that was the theme of an event I was going to attend.
But honestly, that was more "if I wrote that I could sell the books easier because they're on theme". Of course, I fell in love with the characters because I wouldn't write something I didn't believe in.
