(Hopefully) popular opinion: #TheBluesBrothers kicks ass. As a young person I had no understanding of what the filmmakers had pulled together. It's got artists who put R&B and blues on the map during the early and mid-20th century doing their thing in amazing style (Cab fucking Calloway does *Minnie the Moocher...!). The soundtrack is unmatched.
It's a love letter to Chicago, a buddy movie, an ongoing chase movie with a ridiculous amount of cartoonish destruction, a spurned-ex-lover revenge movie (with Carrie Fisher), a musician comeback movie, and I can never forget it is anti-cop and explicitly antifascist.

(Hopefully) popular opinion: #TheBluesBrothers kicks ass. As a young person I had no understanding of what the filmmakers had pulled together. It's got artists who put R&B and blues on the map during the early and mid-20th century doing their thing in amazing style (Cab fucking Calloway does *Minnie the Moocher...!). The soundtrack is unmatched.
It's a love letter to Chicago, a buddy movie, an ongoing chase movie with a ridiculous amount of cartoonish destruction, a spurned-ex-lover revenge movie (with Carrie Fisher), a musician comeback movie, and I can never forget it is anti-cop and explicitly antifascist.
