  16. Overhauling an Amiga 600.

    #retrocomputing #amiga #commodore #a600

Some time ago I acquired a haul of Commodore stuff - fresh from the attic.

Usually I's not doing C= these days, but I had an A2000 during university ... sooo

    The haul consisted of a
    - highly modded C=64
    - A600
    - A1200
    and
    - A2000

Since then I am working on restoring them and the A600 is about to be finished ... only wating for sun to retrobright the keycaps.
    It was a journey.
    - cleaning the case
    - replaced all SMDs with polymer caps
    - hat to diagnose a non-working mouse/joystick ... turned out to be a defective LS157
    - new membrane for the keyboard
    - implanting a HD
    - servicing the floppy, didn't note changes and was erratic in reading disks
    - repairing the A601 RAM/RTC (exploded battery)
    and, last step ...
    - replacing the broken off clips

So - almost done. My plan is to sell off the A600 (and later the A1200 to new happy owners to cross-finance the A2000 ;).
