The people in the #USGovernment who decided how #Medicare ID numbers look failed spectacularly.
Medicare numbers are an 11-digit string of letters and numbers. That's already dumb, because letters are harder to read clearly over the phone than numbers.
Worse, they've allowed both 0/O and 1/l in them, making the written form also ambiguous.
These were already well-known issues before these decisions were made; #Usability testing also would have revealed them.

I just discovered that "Employer on the Go", a website I am required to use by my employer for downloading pay stubs and entering time-off requests, implements "remember me" by saving my username and password in a plaintext browser cookie.

It gets worse. They use "&" in the cookie as the separator between key/value pairs, and it's not quoted in values, so if there's a "&" in your password then they truncate it and don't pre-fill it properly on the login page.

Kid-who-is-fighting-with-the-insurance-company asked for restaurant takeout for lunch, which I obviously agreed to because I'm not a monster. I ordered for everybody in the family (except me, I'd already eaten). It was too much food to fit in one #motorcycle saddlebag, so I asked the restaurant to pack the order in two bags, which they agreed to do.

(They are in a timezone 14 hours ahead of mine, which makes both "just walk over to their desk and straighten it out" and "just pick up the phone and call them and straighten it out" somewhat challenging.)

Ok, so, I needed something physical this morning to get my mind out of a rut, so I rode my motorcycle over to #BostonBowl for some Sunday morning #bowling. As usual, my scores were all over the map—I am not a good bowler—but hands down the stand-out moment of the outing was when the sole of one of my bowling shoes (mine, not rented) literally fell off in the middle of me winding up to roll the ball. #lol #smdh

Back in September, I was going through all my online accounts and switching them all to unique Addy.io addresses.
As part of that effort, on September 20, I submitted a request to Lenovo asking them to delete my Motorola account (no longer needed since I haven't had any Motorola hardware for a Long Time).
I'm sure you will all be relieved to know that today, June 16, Lenovo informed me that they've deleted my account as requested.

I would like to punish the #Apple #macOS #UXDesign professional who decided it's a good idea that using command-tab to switch to another app when it's minimized to the dock does nothing, rather than oh, I don't know, maybe un-minimizing the app? #smdh

I just had to use an online identity verification site on my phone, "HooYu", while opening an account online, and the site told me to remove my glasses before it could take a live selfie, then while taking the selfie it displayed instructions on my screen that I was supposed to read while holding the phone a very specific fixed distance away from my very short-sighted eyes.
Do these people THINK before designing these apps?

Today #USAA notified me that they finally opened the credit card dispute I had requested, after I requested it three times, the third time in a letter to the CEO.
Unfortunately, they got it wrong, again. My letter clearly said I only wanted to dispute part of the charge, but they opened a dispute for the whole charge.
I have just sent them a fourth letter pointed out the error and asking them (again) to handle this properly.
