I’ve had a few difficult weeks recently dealing with some health issues (nothing serious but painful), but a while ago I decided to upgrade my desoldering tools with a very nice pair of #Hakko FX8804 heated tweezers. I received them today and they’re a thing of beauty 😍 #electronics #smd #diy #repair

  2. Since it'll take some time for the PCBs to arrive, I decided to make a #prototype on #perfboard. It works fine, and I can test my programs using it. Turns out an #ATtiny814 is good enough for the task.
    The #WS2812B #SMD #LEDs are very bright, though, and reducing brightness also reduces the possible color range.
    The different color shadings are not very distinguishable, yet. I might have to adjust the color palette.

    Mir gings eigentlich nicht um das lernen ansich.

    Eher die Abschreckung das #SMD und somit #elektronik teuer ist.

    Wer hat schon ein Mikroskop etc dafür zu Hause?

    Auch die #Platinen für #SMD gibt es nicht wirklich als universell.

    Alleine wie man diese herstellt / bestellt ist ein eigener Kurs.

    Lochraster, ein bißchen Draht für ein bißchen #BlinkiBlinki ist wesentlich günstiger für den lernenden Anfänger.

  12. I'm doing weird stuff again. I'm soldering USB hubs on flex PCBs.

    By accident, I ordered exactly as many 0.1uF 0402 size capacitors that I needed. BAD idea 😅

    Well, I guess I'll finish it next week, after the extra capacitors arrive. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    I have a cheap logic analyzer that I want to use on an #SMD #esp32s3, the difficulty is to make sure the probes stays in place while doing aquisitions. For now I use dupont wires, but it's obviously not going well.
    What is the kind of probes that should be used in those cases?

  14. Alright, electrical engineer friends... I'm trying to figure out why my drawing tablet's display broke. I was able to pry it open, and found a cracked diode, but I can't identify it. A bit of searching makes me think it's a tvs diode, but I've no idea what it specifically is (or what an appropriate replacement might be). It looks like it's marked "XM", and I can't identify the logo beneath it (thought it was ST, but that doesn't match their logo)

  16. Something new today - Orange Pi 5 Plus with quite a few missing components related to CPU. No wonder it didn't turn on 😂.

    Luckily I have two more to fix so I could use them as reference - took quite some time though because I had to desolder those parts from a different board, measure each one and then put back...

  19. I designed a #SMD adapter board using @kicad and let @aislerhq manufacture them. They are for #SOT23 on one side and #SOT363 on the other side. They bridge the gap of a #solderless #breadboard, so they are perfect for #prototyping circuits or trying out new components - or as replacement for through-hole parts. I soldered a dual diode #BAV70 on one and a dual NPN/PNP transistor #BC847BPN on a second one to try them out. I'm satisfied how they look, although the white area for labeling is a bit small - I need a thinner pen for that.

  21. Finished #soldering another #StackSynth #diysynth module, an important one: the #VCA - together with the ADSR, it makes the output sound much better.
    Again, boards were manufactured by @aislerhq and they look nice.
    I noticed that I didn't have any 2MΩ 0805 #SMD resistors, but found a couple of larger 1206 2.2MΩ ones in my recycle bin. They don't fit perfectly, but should do until I have the proper ones.

    It was fun and went better than my previous attempts, since I used a smaller tip.
