Telefonen tyst.

Never the biggest Max fan, but that's a bizzare pen... at most generous it was a racing incident. Unless there was an angle or data we didn't see. Odd.
Lewis on full hammertime now tho!

As the Sami people recognise and use eight seasons; this is spring-winter. Lovely sun and shadows on the snow, nature still holding the breath before full spring around the corner.
I've been home to my studio but could not do much but fetch some items for the #bizzarometer I am building.
Also being troubled about economy. Things are getting really bad still without #breadjob. Phone silent.

The built-in assumption that a professor challenged his gifted student to use to prove that #quantum computing will always be "superior" to classical #computing was so bizzare that I cannot quite wrap my mind around the mistake.
Granted, I did work at #Intel for 6 years. And my last group being the AI silicon trying to help mathematicians improve their #AI model's/models' efficiency .... but I suppose my data point just goes to show that theoretical math can stray pretty far from actual machine learning and computing.
Anybody who has ever built a program that can upload a csv to a database knows this intuitively. The "cost" of a parameter-based search ought to include both load time and compute time. One can write helpers that speed-up LLMs that tend to quantize models by key terms and frequency of those key terms in a language.... and then map heavy nodes to higher-memory compute, right? This is why models with "trillions" of parameters tend to be very expensive to compile and run.
The inherent assumption that all the data in a quantum algorithm is already loaded? This seems like a #CS 101 kinda mistake.
I love this field and cannot wait to go back to work, I'm already brainstorming a whitepaper about this topic. Writing and editing whitepapers is one of the things I miss
That being said, Ewin Tang is an astoundingly smart gal, completely deserving of the awards.

Chemical in #Roundup that causes brain damage found in common #cereals, new study finds
December 5, 2024 | Vivek Saxena
"Brief exposure to a weed killer found in breakfast cereals, oats, and orange juice has been shown to cause damage to the human body and brain.
"The weed killer, glyphosate (also known as Roundup), 'is the most widely used herbicide in the US,' according to the Center for Environmental Health.
" 'It is the most commonly used pesticide [#herbicide] in parks and is even found in foods that adults and kids love,' the center notes.
"Yet a new study conducted by Arizona State University researcher Ramon Velazquez and his team has found that active exposure to glyphosate 'can result in significant #BrainInflammation, and increase the risk of #neurodegenerative disease and #Alzheimer’s-like effects,' as reported by Arizona State University (#ASU).
" 'Our work contributes to the growing literature highlighting the brain’s vulnerability to glyphosate,' Velazquez said in a statement. 'Given the increasing incidence of #CognitiveDecline in the aging population, particularly in rural communities where exposure to glyphosate is more common due to large-scale #farming, there is an urgent need for more basic research on the effects of this herbicide.'
" 'My hope is that our work drives further investigation into the effects of glyphosate exposure, which may lead to a reexamination of its long-term safety and perhaps spark discussion about other prevalent toxins in our environment that may affect the brain,' additional study author Samantha Bartholomew added.
"The study involved testing both a high dose and low dose of glyphosate exposure on mice, with the lower dose being around the level that’s found in common foods like cereal and orange juice. While the high dosage dose caused issues, so did the lower dose.
" '[The] lower dose still led to harmful effects in the brains of mice, even after exposure ceased for months,' according to ASU. 'While reports show that most Americans are exposed to glyphosate daily, these results show that even a short period could potentially cause neurological damage.'
"A previous study commissioned by #MomsAcrossAmerica in 2017 found that one of the most popular #OrangeJuices in America, #Tropicana, also contains glyphosate.
" 'The discovery of glyphosate residue in orange juice is unacceptable, especially since a branch of the World Health Organization designated glyphosate a probable #carcinogen two years ago, back in the spring of 2015,' Moms Across America founder Zen Honeycutt said in a statement at the time.
" 'The EPA has had ample time to revoke the license of this chemical and restrict its use in our food and beverage crops. As confirmed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, our children (who frequently drink orange juice for breakfast) are especially vulnerable to pesticides and measures should be taken immediately to protect them,' she added.
"What remains to be seen is how the upcoming Trump Environmental Protection Agency will deal with this." [We know how that went!!! More #EPAFails!]

Older white guy rants to me and a fem colleague about how the Ford government lets private long-term care coorprations/condo boards and landlords grift the living hell out of regular people, but prefaces his rant with, "and beleive me, I'm no socialist." I couldn't get a word in edge-wise, but I'd love to a have asked, "why not? And what do you want then?" I'm so glad that generally folks seem much more willing to use socialism and identify as a socialist (at least in the Anglo-Americas I experience) than they were even just 10 years ago, but encounters like these are bizzare. If you have a problem with private ownership of land, you really ought to have a problem with a socio-economic system that privileges just such an arrangement and trends, pretty well inevitability, towards (neo)liberalism and then the slide to fascism. Socialism (/anarchism/communism/communalism, etc.) is the alternative, friend.

FUBAR Season 2 Review
https://creators.spotify.com/pod/show/becomingthemuse/episodes/FUBAR-Season-2-Review-e34927p
FUBAR is an American action spy-comedy series created for Netflix by Nick Santora. Season one of FUBAR premiered on 25 May 2023 and after a 2 year wait season 2 which premiered on 12 June 2025… is back
The series stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as an about to retire CIA agent with season 2 following up on events from previous the season, which ended with his cover blown. Now his family and team have to stay in a safe house waiting for things to cool down, meanwhile, a new threat threatens to return America to the dark ages, and an old flame who comes with compromising intrigue…
The Good
He’s back,.. again… How can one not love Arnie, he’s one of the most iconic action hero stars and they don’t make them like that anymore, the series is a whimsical journey back to the golden era of action movies and is packed with nostalgic throwback lines from movies of yeasteryear.
One would think that Arnold Schwarzenegger is too old to still be on the screen, yet the big guy is infectiously fun to watch, he had fun filming this and it shows. He has great rapport with the other actors who are equally up-to the task of carrying the series that it isn’t a one man show but a team effort each bring their unique character elements.
Old faces return, some get killed off and new faces make an appearance. Guy Burnet as Theodore Chips has scene stealing villainy that will have you warming up to him, as he worms his way into an entanglement with Emma (Monica Barbaro) alongside Carter(Jay Baruchel and Aldon(Travis Van Winkle)
Guy Burnet as Theodore Chips in FUBAR Season 2An interesting addition to the cast is Carrie-Anne Moss whom you might remember as Trinity from the Matrix… (took me a bit to remember why she looked so familiar…) Carrie-Anne plays Greta Nelso who is Luke Brunner’s femme fatale former love interest whose presence now introduces a new dynamic to Arnie’s character as he tries to patch things with his ex-wife.
During a vulnerable moment the two characters commiserate over their old age pains, they are self-aware they are past their prime, forgetful and no longer as nimble. The self-awareness mellows one out from being too harsh about flaws in the perfomances..
Greta Nelso and Luke Brunner in FUBAR Season 2The family dynamic angle with all the characters holed up in a paper-thin safe-house where they get on each other’s nerves and hair, but have to work together to stay alive and also do world-saving stuff, is great character development which amplifies some roles which had mostly been comic relief turning them into actual subplots and side-quests that are entertaining.
Its an action series… and FUBAR has quite the sleek, well-choreographed, action scenes, that draw you back in when the more domestic sitcom scenes have you attention waning.
The Bad
I started watching without getting a recap and was kinda confused on what the heck was going on, as it jumps into things with no preamble. Who were all these people and what were they doing? 😂 Had to find a recap reel before I could proceed.
It doesn’t take itself serious as an action movie and sticks the landing as a comedy but somehow finds a shaky equilibrium as an action-comedy, that feels a few decades past the time it should have dropped… But then its target audience is those who were into 80s and 90s movies.
The plot has a lot going on, love triangles and romantic tensions, family drama and therapy, bombs and unending darkness and side quests with PCP…
The Ugly
It tries a little too hard… you cant dad joke your way through serious moments… watching this series with “youngsters” had me feeling like a dinosaur for pointing out references from iconic movies of days past. One can see how a younger audience might not be appreciative of this series.
Final Thoughts
FUBAR Season 2 is like a CIA mission gone wrong, messy, occasionally brilliant, and oddly endearing. It’s an entertaining ride if you are in it for nostalgia, banter and bizzare family bonding. The series has an ending that hints that it will be back…
Have you watched FUBAR

I just finished watching #TheSubstance starring #DemiMoore for which she already has received a #GoldenGlobe for #BestActress in a #Musical or Comedy.
The #movie is truly #BIZZARE!!!! 😲
I initially thought it was intended as a #horror show but then it morphed into a #farce which had me laughing out loud at the ridiculousness if it. 🤣
It's #TheLastShowGirl (2024) meets #TheThing (1982) and the underlying question is: What price are you willing to pay for fame & beauty?" 🤔
I've now watched 8 out of the 10 #Oscar nominated films for #BestPicture this year and so far & The Substance is my favorite for the craziness & audacity of it all. 👏👏👏👏
I'd give it at least a 7 and maybe even an 8 out of 10 -- so call it a 7.5 which is a very high movie rating from me.
I know it won't win the Oscar -- #TheBrutalist which already won the Golden Globe for Best Picture will probably get it -- but IMO this film is better & I'm immediately adding it to my DVD buy list. 😎

The new "blue label" #microcassetttes aren't that good quality and seem to have the tape slightly misaligned, so you hear the recording from the other side of the tape backwards (thankfullly I've been able to find some NOS #TDK ones) which work a lot better.
Seems bizzare though someone would go to all the trouble of making *new* microcassettes in 2026, but get the dimensions slightly wrong..
