#ThamesValleyPolice and #Hampshire #Constabulary in Southern #England test a new #breathalyser (developed following research in the #Netherlands ) which checks #drivers for use of #nitrousoxide (laughing #gas) - a form of #DUI that has led to serious #collisions across #Europe
(it almost seems like drivers are taking this stuff out of spite, as use of other substances is now tested for and detectable so folk have stopped doing them as much when regularly driving)
This is apparently the first device of this kind in the World!

At least one family business in #Norfolk is going to be heavily disrupted as they've lost a key staff member to His Majesty's Prisons, and two of the lads who got nicked have already served time previously for the obnoxious act of stealing #NitrousOxide cylinders from #NHS hospitals, even travelling up North to do so (there is absolutely no need to do that, the stuff can still be diverted from catering supplies).
It looks like authorities got them just before older and more sensible lads aged out of the game and laundered the money they had made into the family business so old bill are getting smarter these days (or they pissed off someone locally and got grassed up)
Demographics of the offenders and substances involved suggests they were part of local #rave scene

The only serious harm I see from the recreational use of nitrous oxide is #FuckinNangs littering the streets. They're made of aluminum, so theoretically recyclable. But a single unpopped canister mixed in with the empties could be very dangerous when they crush them. So metal recyclers usually won't take them.
If Dr Shane Reti wants to regulate nitrous, ban those bloody little canisters. So you can only buy it in reusable tanks.
