Even though the neurospicy edges of my brain are lowkey tripping out over the remaining piles of boxes to be unpacked (and obsessing over a couple of items possibly gone missing in said boxes), my cranky-ass bod has had enough of my brain's "must keep doing the thing!!!" shit for one week and declared a crash day. I do still have to do some very basic kitchen survival tasks, but anything beyond that is yeeted off the agenda.

Given the delightfully-dorky and neurospicy nature of the fediverse, along with the fact that we went to a selective grammar school, we're honestly surprised that we still haven't yet bumped into anybody from our year group online here :FediverseSymbol:
Then again, we did go to a school that mistakenly thought it was teaching solely boys 😂
Might have to go hunting for a few at some point, partly to see how they're all doing, but mostly also to confuse the heck out of others 🤭

Our year group was very... memorable... to say the least 😅
- Someone (not us) once recorded the number of times a teacher said "maintenant" in French classes. It was labelled the maintenant-meter (maintenometer). Apparently it peaked on Wednesdays.
- The head of IT locked our PC rooms on the final day of our year, after discovering the non-malicious hacking plans.
- Our head boy was openly gay... whilst Section 28 was still in force.

We were having an interesting and highly-neurospicy conversation with lovely wife.
She used the word burgeoning in passing, to which we advised we can't unassociate that word from icky transphobe Germaine Greer.
Wife then described her as a fauxminist 🤣
She hadn't heard this term used before: the portmanteau just flowed naturally from her mind.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 939 , Sunday 24/05/2026
I managed to get a bit of a lie in this morning but the sunlight streaming thru the window woke me up & drove me out of bed.
It has been a day of frustration of beauty & of sadness.
Managed to get windows 10 onto my MBP this morning, so that was heartening,
Mrs S & I went out for a short walk in the glorious sunshine by the local reservoir & I was reminded that we live in a most beautiful part of the world!
I got myself a Steam a/c & got a copy of Elite Dangerous this afternoon but could not get it to run, it was a bit of a long shot on a 7 year old machine. I will have to wait for Christmas for a gaming PC.
Late this afternoon I found out that a lovely friend that I met on here some time ago had passed after succumbing to an illness they knew nothing about at the start of the year.
I will post a G.N.U. for them after their funeral but I will let others formally announce their passing as they have asked.
Final Thoughts.
Nobody is truly gone as long as their name is spoken by those who knew them & cared for them.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 938 , Saturday 23/05/2026
Hah defeated to noise bots next door by the use of ear plugs … even so I was still up before 07:20 today!
Did my chores then spent a n hour or so on Elite Dangerous.
Mrs S decided that we were going carpet hunting after lunch, just to the local shop where we met the proprietor, Patrick, a very helpful man though he did have a thing for castors on office chairs!
Carpet picked & Patrick is coming out Tuesday to measure up.
Settled down to catch up on a couple of Mrs S’s cop shows when we got back which were accompanied by our now regular ‘Cona’ coffee.
16:00 So since starting to play Elite Dangerous again I have really felt the difference between the legacy version that runs on the PS5 & the things that one can do on the current version that only runs on the PC.
So I’ve been thinking about a gaming PC, but cannot currently afford a decent one.
However I do have a 2019 intel MacBook Pro which will run windows & therefore windows games … yes the one that I installed Kubuntu on, but needs must etc.So starting to convert the MBP to windoze, just a gaming machine I have no intention of using it for anything else, we have an old laptop that I can put linux on.
Step one, reinstall OSX!
22:10 Well it seems that OSX is reluctant to return to my MBP, recovery mode failed so now having to try other methods.
Final Thoughts.
Why couldn’t I have chosen an easier hobby, brain surgery, designing portable nuclear fusion devices you know something easy!
Hey ho, no doubt the technology will bend to my will eventually!

Woken up at around 5am by next door’s kids banging around on something, I will not be sorry to see them go, I only hope that our new neighbours like to stay in bed a bit longer!
It’s been a sunny warm day, went to the gym, did the chores & knocked about the house.
We had a decorator come & price up doing the box room - the other one who came the other month has been spinning us along & will not give a firm date, the lass who came around today can start in a week!
Final Thoughts.
Not a bad day, although I am still struggling with the whole peopling thing!
