So for transferring notes and pieces of text, I have #AnyType, and for transferring files, I have #LocalSend. Nice and easy. I just used it to transfer 6 new photos (25Mb) from my iPhone to my Mac in a couple of seconds.
And they haz a tooter: @localsend

I see a lot of posts today referencing parents and contact and visits etc... I assume it's #MothersDay or something.
I feel there's a lot I could say and comment, but at the same time I can't, because I'm not yet at the stage where I can talk rationally about my parents and their dark shadow over almost my entire life.
There's too much still to unpick and unravel and it may be years before I can talk about them without sliding into a 3 hour monologue that ends in tears.

I create and use a lot of shell scripts in my work. I start each script with:

While staying in #Davao, I've had an opportunity to calculate how many loud #Americans going through a noisy breakup in the #hotel room next to you is the optimum number, and it turns out the optimum number is zero.
Unfortunately, the loud, entitled, selfish elderly American in the room next to me didn't seem to be aware of this.
After 48 hours of this I probably understand their relationship better than they do.
PS. Ditch him girl, he's an asshole. And he's like 50 years older than you.

I consume my #news mainly via #RSS feeds of major news sites (#Guardian, #Rappler, etc).
Sometimes I open my feed reader, read a headline and think "I don't have enough room in my brain to hold an opinion on that", and I don't open the article.
The most important part of this story is that I've realised this is healthy. It's good to be selective and protect ourselves from overload. We don't need to know everything that's going on, let alone form an opinion on it.

1. I'm in #Davao City for a couple of days/nights to pick up my new 5 year residency card. It's a 3 hour drive from home through spectacular mountain and coastal scenery. I must have driven it 30 times each way and I never tire of it.
2. My hotel, though not particularly posh, does have a lovely pool and lush gardens.
3. Fuel prices are coming down a little bit here after being rather high (though still less than I used to pay in Europe).

Here's some #travel insanity...
I'd love to visit #Batanes in northern #Philippines. My home airport is #GeneralSantos in southern Philippines.
To get to Batanes I have to take THREE flights each way, and a return trip will cost me around P52,000 (€750).
That's P1,000 MORE than a return flight from MANILA to ROME with Emirates - and with stops, it TAKES LONGER too.
Insane.

I keep my contacts in a #CardDAV address book on my own #Baikal #DAV server, and my Betterbird email app has no problem accessing this.What it can't do is merge 2 contacts!
It's 2026, we almost have flying cars, how is merging contacts not possible?

1. A client Teams call that I had been dreading (video calls give me massive #autistic anxiety) actually went well; now I'm decompressing with deep breathing & cup of peppermint tea.
2. Our farm manager's hand is recovering well from an arthritis flareup so he'll be able to drive my wife to #Davao tomorrow. Wife needs to see her brother, farm manager gets to see his son.
3. Our smallest batch of chicks are steadily growing and most now have wing feathers.

1. Our beloved Max (see pic) had to go under general anesthetic today for his first ever serious teeth cleaning & deplaqueing. Took ages but he came through fine and is now enjoying rotisserie chicken tidbits for being a good boy. #DogsOfMastodon
2. SMS arrived saying my new 5-year residency card is ready for collection. Good excuse for an overnight trip to #Davao to pick it up.

Too little, too late, #Apple. You made it very clear we had to update to #Tahoe to prevent device armageddon so reluctantly I did, on both iPhones and the iPad.
And now, over a week after all the #DarkSword mass panic and upgrading, you change your mind? Not cool.
But I won’t be buying any more Apple devices anyway. For a variety of reasons, many of which relate to your contempt for your users - which is clearly shown by this late action.
