  1. #Today #3Things

    1. Did a very fiddly and intricate #NGauge #ModelRailway task that I don't have the energy to describe properly but rest assured I'm satisfied and happy that one of my coaches is now running and coupling properly.

    2. Our guys work fast and we now have 4 #solar streetlights at intervals along our driveway, each on a home made 4.5m pole.

    3. Wife is seeing her brother in Davao this weekend, so until Monday afternoon it's just me and the #dogs. And the goats. And the chickens. And one of our workers. And his duck. Quack. Went to mow a meadow...

  2. #ModelRailway #NGauge

My birthday present to myself arrived #today from the UK. A second hand Arlberg Express set of 1990s-era Swiss SBB CFF FFS coaches by #Kato, with interior lighting, absolute mint condition in original boxes, quite hard to find. Clark Railworks for the win, again.

#Today I finally completed the model railway layout plan I've been working on for way too long. I'm already in the early stages of building the benchwork and am feeling quite fired up with the thought of building the layout over the next few (OK, many) months. Here's a blog post with all the details you probably didn't need to know:

  4. #Today #3Things

    A quiet day.

    1. Finalising track layout details and parts purchasing lists for the #NGauge #ModelRailway I'm building.

    2. Inspecting the work in progress on the footbridge and goat enclosure.

    3. Some time spent comforting Max (our smallest dog) due to much thunder rumbling over the hills to the east. He's terrified of storms and is only pacified by curling up on my shoulder and putting his head on my face. However, because he weighs 10kg and is not an olympic gymnast, this means I have to stop whatever I'm doing and lie down on the bed with him until the storm's gone. Tough job but someone has to do it.

  5. #ModelRailway #NGauge #Trainstodon

Drew haz a hobby... I don't post a lot about the model railway, mainly because I just have a tiny (120x60cm) test layout for now while I try to find enough time to build the benchwork for a bigger layout.

But anyway, I'm focusing on Switzerland with some overlap with neighbouring countries, and I buy most of my stock second hand because have you seen the prices of new stuff?

The pic shows my latest used haul which arrived today from a trusted UK supplier. For scale, the front left wagon is 10cm long. This little lot cost me about £100 which is less than half retail price. Not the cheapest of hobbies, but I'm a #railfan so what can I do?

  6. My ieji.de #introduction post...

I'm Drew. I'm an escaped Brit, late 50s, child-free, #AntiTheist, #synesthete, former #musician, living in 🇵🇭 since 2019. I'm #neurodivergent with severe #CPTSD. You can ask me about it, I'm trying to get better at discussing it. I can also be abrasive, capricious and inconsistent, and I'm done apologising for who I am.

I'm married, I work in #tech and I love animals and nature. My wife and I bought a run-down smallholding to have a peaceful place to live and now we're accidental hobby farmers.

    I may write about: #DogsOfMastodon #Tech #WebDev #Linux #RaspberryPi #Apple #NoAI #FuckAI #Privacy #InfoSec #Autism #ActuallyAutistic #AuDHD #ADHD #Alexithymia #ChildhoodTrauma #MentalHealth #Stroke #SubarachnoidHemorrhage #Arthritis #Trains #TrainTrackTuesday #Railways #ModelRailway #NGauge #Philippines #SilentSunday #Today #3Things #Bookstodon #Books #Music #DIY #FarmLife #GoatsOfMastodon. I edit posts a lot (including this one).

I have a one-page personal site at drewtowler.me that tells my story.

I'm bullshit-phobic so I try to keep my feed as free from politics and religion as I can. That said, I would welcome the annihilation of #China by any means. If you lived in the Philippines you'd understand. And I support #PalestineAction's right to exist and protest.

I see a lot of Starlink-hate on here. We happily use #Starlink - it meant we could buy the land we really wanted and build our house in a peaceful place in the hills where there's no fibre or 4G. For us it was a no-brainer. It's transformed our lives.
