@fediverse @rimu @Snoopy @Jerry #piefed is fairly new as a social media platform. There was no piefed instance before COVID if I'm not mistaken.
There ought to be more #instances of #piefed in order to reach newer users. And you might be aware that #piefed would find huge number of users in geographical areas like #china and #southAsia . What are your thoughts on this ??
Moreover, the #fediverse has its own neat rules when it comes to federating servers. Please share your thoughts on this each of you.

If you have been on Mastodon for more than a few months and plan on sticking around I suggest you move off of mastodon.social or mastodon.world if you haven’t already. Your experience will most likely be more stable and you’ll be able to explore and search federated feed.
If you have an instance and are welcoming people I’d ask you comment on and boost this toot!
Plus it’s what all the cool kids are doing ..

This is me asking for recommends for a second fedi instance to sort of get my writing out there more.
Should be:
- Okay w/ NSFW writing (I CW BC I'm not that kind of bish)

I can't seem to find a good instance search page with filters for content and maximum character length per toot. -

I agree with you that the problem is that they can easily be #hijacked and also become irrelevant. This post will be listed with any posts involving #hijacks or #news.
One way to join #communities relevant to your interests is to join #instances dedicated to your interests. I joined a #technology #instance, and I am looking for something relevant to #3dprinting because it is the main topic that I publicly discuss on #socialmedia.
For more specific and isolated #topics and #communities, I use #reddit.
So I would recommend researching for relevant groups discussing something like #chronicpain and joining their #instances, or maybe just join a #subreddit. Which might not be the answer you are looking for, but #reddit is great for specific and longer posts regarding such topics.

But:
👍 We know that it's just a temporary technical issue that has a technical solution in increasing capacities.👍 The possibilities and philosophy of #Mastodon and #Fediverse are worth the temporary limitation of comfort!
👍 New users can still #register on various other general instances.

Another great feature in apps like #Megalodon and #Fedilabs is the ability to hide replies in timelines.
This promotes the feature of #threads. Because you only see the original top post and no posts out of context. So if you see a post and you are interested in the content and replies, you can click on it and go down the tree of comments. This is way better on #Mastodon than #Twitter.
I really like the idea of threads here on Mastodon. It allows for an idea based conversation, where every post is a single topic but is tied together to a larger conversation by the top post.

The problem, however, with these #timelines that aren't governed by some algorithm, is that you can easily see the same post over and over.
I follow a few accounts that are interconnected with each other. We all interact with the same content. So when they all #boost a post, I see the original and 5 #boosts.
This is, however, fixed with clients, allowing me to hide boosts from my timelines. Which isn't the best solution. We should rather be allowed to hide boosts of accounts we already follow because I've already seen that post or eventually will in my timeline.

I've actually thought about it a lot. I want to see the posts that people that I follow #favorite. I want to see what they are up to and doing.
But if we allow this, it goes against the principle that #boosts are for you and #favorites for the original poster.
If the people that I follow want me to see something, they would reply to a post or boost it.
With #Mastodon not sorting our timelines by favorite count and number of boosts, I actually see all of the posts of people I follow and content doesn't get lost, and I love it.

#Twitter, on the other hand, has a problem with #retweets and #likes. People don't use them correctly and often use both.
This paired with the #algorithm leads to a few #tweets being spammed across the entire site and other posts getting lost in the ocean of tweets.
My experience on Twitter over 10 years had far less interaction than my 3 months on #Mastodon.
On Twitter, my posts just disolved into nothing, where I now get many #favorites and #boosts on all my posts.
I also get replies and interaction here because people actually see my content and aren't obsessed with one or two celebrity accounts.

So for example, if I moved the #Madeindex project to a server that has defederated Mastodon.social, every contact from mastodon.social would be gone, right?

To give them the benefit of the doubt, many #instances have English-only (or other single-language-only) #rules because they fear #legal #liability because of their inability to effectively #moderate or respond to complaints about #content posted in a language they cannot understand.

The web experience is almost #flawless for me, even better than with Tusky!
Just, I find a bit #irritating when I open the #emoji tab and also the keyboard opens.. both occupy half screen and overlap each other.. So have to close the keyboard and then choose an emoji, but it also hang everything a bit..
