“Work in progress”
Fitting lights to a Metcalfe barn kit. Made slightly trickier because the barn had a floor.
Wiring for the lights will run to the front corner of the building where they will terminate on a small piece of perfboard holding the resistors that allow 12v to be used. The 12V cable will run down and out of the bottom and be very short, just enough to bend over and slot into a gap cut into the foam base that the barn will sit on. There’s a second building yet to be added to this structure.

This evening I finished re-numbering, and labelling, all my accessory controllers (points, lights) and point feedback sensors. And documenting everything in a spreadsheet. This included moving some point wiring around on the accessory controllers so that the numbering is more logical than it was.
The second step is to now go through and update everything in JMRI. Every point has a different accessory address and a different sensor address. That’s 60 addresses to update.
I can already see that block occupancy has stopped playing up 💪 hoping to update all the points tomorrow lunchtime and then update the sensors in the evening.
And then… I can re-wire and program the signals 😬

Model railway update:
About half of the aspect signals I plan to use are now installed, wired up and partially programmed (it’s an iterative process as I learn how the signal control boards work).
Two of the three platform structures in the main station are all but finished. I have some pavement strips to apply to platform 1 and I need to paint and install the tops of the chimneys on the two buildings. Then I can start work on the structures for platform 4.
The buildings aren’t perfect but the things I’m not happy with are pretty small and probably not noticeable by most people 😬

My ESU programmer arrived today. Held off ordering one for quite a while but having decided to standardise on ESU decoders it was only a matter of time. Yet another piece of kit with Windows only software, sigh.

Time to get the fiddly canopies into the station buildings. And they are fiddly. Lot of measuring.

This lunchtime I’ve spent some time working on incorporating hanging lights into the Metcalfe platform canopies. It’s going quite well so far. Taken my time to work out exactly how to get the lamps where I want.
