Today I discovered buggleskellystation.com where I was able to order Eddie and Richie figures in OO scale. Eddie is, of course, about to hit somebody with a frying pan.

Been looking at pictures of steam depots and carriage sidings from the 60’s and it looks like what I should be doing is putting track straight onto a completely flat cork base, then add a minimum of ballast between the sleepers followed by making everything very grimy.
Suits me, keeps everything nice and simple! Need to buy some more black acrylic paint though. And work out how I’m going to construct the concrete hard standing areas.
Just glueing cork down at the moment, and deciding where the newly purchased yard lights will go. I’ve already simplified one area and eliminated a point.

I think I’m most pleased about the red tint. I tried applying red Sharpie directly to the lens but it did nothing, was about to give up for the evening then saw some plastic wrapping due for the bin. Amazingly, works very well #ModelRailway

I saw someone do this modification with a physical switch between the rear lights and the decoder but I feel like doing it via programmed logic would be a more elegant solution. #ModelRailway

Next thing I want to do is set up a function to turn the tender tail light off when hooked on to coaches. Tail lights in the middle of the train is a big no. #ModelRailway

The GT3 gas turbine model had a mistake in the lighting, where the tail lights at the front of the loco for when it was reversing were connected to ground, so were lit up constantly. They were also white. I’ve soldered the LED to the correct output on the decoder socket for correct operation as tail lights, and then managed to turn the LED red by sticking a scrap bit of plastic I painted red with a sharpie over it. Great success! #ModelRailway
