I'm not *positive* that using a Windows build of `patch` won't be okay, but the client's allergen to the GPL is severe and I would preferably not have to address this problem twice.

I spent some time today playing the new Lemmings Reloaded port for the #C64. Then I spent some time trying to figure out if it was vibe-coded with #AI or not. Then I spent yet more time thinking about why this was important for me to know...
I mean, the port is excellent in every dimension. Makes this old #ZXSpectrum owner quite jealous, to be honest. So what difference would it make if it was AI coded? It's still an enjoyable game...
Am I just a grumpy AI racist?

I’m running too many agents at the same time (I'm easily distracted), and switching LLMs all around is annoying, so going to see if magpie can solve that for me

I first became aware of what a fucking asshole the FOTUS is before I graduated high school in 1982. Other people like conservative William F. Buckley who started the magazine “National Review” knew back then.

I spent 10 minutes with an ai chat bot to finally get a human, and if I don't respond quickly they keep trying to drop the conversation 🙃

“I hear thoughts just before they’re spoken. Hers I hear before they’re thought.”

I added Goose and Amp to a tool that runs several coding agents. The most useful thing I learned wasn't about the protocol. It was the defaults.
Goose's default mode approves tool calls automatically. If you start it through a wrapper that doesn't set a mode, it runs commands without asking anyone. So I set the mode per process instead of relying on whatever is in the user's Goose config. Default, accept-edits and auto all use Goose's approval mode, so tool calls ask. Only the permission mode literally called bypass picks automatic approval, and none of it touches the user's own Goose configuration.
The second surprise was Goose's chat-only mode. It disables all tools, reads included. A plan mode you'd expect to still read your files doesn't, so mapping 'plan' to it means the agent can only talk.
Amp went the other way. Its streaming output has no documented way to answer an approval from outside, so approvals stay in its own terminal. Its plan and don't-ask modes reject every tool, reads included, and only bypass asks for automatic approval.
What I do with any new agent CLI now: before wiring up anything else, run it once in an empty directory and see what it does with a tool call by default. Two agents gave me two very different answers, and neither was in the first page of the docs.
Which of your agent CLIs would run a command without asking, if you started it the way you usually do? I'm building Styx, where this came from.#agents #ai #cli #tooling #software #coding #development #engineering #inclusive #community
Your coding agent CLI may approve its own tool calls by default -
I built a deterministic OpenAPI differ because I got tired of LLMs writing changelogs that sounded...#openapi #changelog #apidesign #ai #software #coding #development #engineering #inclusive #community

I assign hotkeys to the most frequently used applications in #Raycast, so I rarely use ⌘+Tab. But if I hit that hotkey on an already active app, it loses focus instead!
That's pretty annoying, but it turns out it can be changed under: Raycast Settings → Extensions → Applications → Hotkey Action → *Always Show* instead of *Toggle Visibility*

I just needed to get some filters for Motorboat’s water fountain and now I’m fully distracted.

I've been struggling with the 'my9albums' thing for a month now. It's really hard. Haven't decided yet how I will handle it but probably open a bear.blog. Music is probably the most important experience in my life.
Anyway. This is the first one definitely on the list. Not just the music, but this particular recording. There are non other to match it.
I was sick with a massive fever that was causing me to hallucinate about being strapped to the grill of a transport truck driving through the desert. I was probably about 7 or 8 years old.
A family friend arrived in the morning and dropped of a little record player and a copy of this recording. Brand new. I listened to it over and over for days.
He just left them with me and never said anything. There were a couple of other recordings which struggled for 1st record in this series, but I think this is the one.

I'm listening to a just-released live show of The Doors from 1970. They were _so good_. This was a great show, too. It's a crime against music that Jim Morrison died so young.

I went out for another look and I brought the spotlight with me. Another bunch came into my yard from the hillside between my property and my neighbors. One of them was a bull elk. I'm not sure if he was the one doing the bugling. The females are making a little tiny noise as they move around. It's fascinating. I just hope there aren't any hunters up here this morning.
I wish I'd gotten a picture of that bull! He had a pretty good rack.

I'm yet to have a very good comprehension of the "vibe-coded" slop I've got to knock into a decent package but appear to be making some progress in translating the bits the control workflow from the Notebook into a function so it can be run in a sane manner without relying on a Notebook.

I'm confused about the triple comma, which I assume means I'm at least 35.

I've learnt some more about another set of tokens on GitHub.
How did I end up doing security work? Is there a way to unknow things?
What a mess.
And how come we don't have even more worms going around?...

I am intrinsically skeptical of any "how is X different from Y?" explanation that boils down to "well you see, X is good and Y is bad"

I get tired of the same types of "THIS is gonna be the end of Trump!! We have evidence of ____" posts and nothing ever happens.

I'm overhauling the home music server. It was a music library on the existing #Jellyfin video server. But getting Jellyfin to reliably use the {file tags, filenames, nfo files} to identify artists and albums proved very difficult, & the iteration time of rescanning after changes is tens of seconds. Burned many hours experimenting & fixing a test selection of 10 albums.
Installed #Navidrome instead. Everything works exactly as I expect, is very deterministic, rescanning is automatic and <1s.
