I was very excited (as folks could tell) and honored about having given the keynote at @iswc_conf this year in Nara, Japan. Thanks everyone for their very kind reception of the talk! Thanks for inviting me!

I was talking about Wikipedia and the Semantic Web - 20 years of co-development and the future, sketching out how the two have and keep influencing each other.

Attending an abroad conference in awareness of climate crisis urgency comes with serious dissonance. Against this background I really appreciate the plans by the SWSA towards more sustainability of the #ISWC as announced at #ISWC2023 townhall. Of course, emission avoidance is better than emission compensation and ~2 flights / participant is of matter. But as also elaborated in the session, there is no realistic alternative.

Lots of people at the #iswc2023 #townhallmeeting ... great to see active live participation back and discussions on how to sustain and improve the conference series!!!! #iswc - a community that cares :)))
