I agree with that prime directive "to leave control in the hands of the user" 100%I don't see how that can't go hand in hand with also being in control of being searchable and discoverable if the user wishes to.
For example I feel in control when I have the option to choose to be discoverable or not. If I don't get that option at all then I feel like I lose control because I wish for others to engage with me.
Hashtag searching is extremely limited and it unfortunately can't translate complex ideas which require multiple keywords or detailed concepts.

The UK based Bookdepository was another alternative they bought 😞

Be sure to use and check out #hashtags . They are the primary method of following topics on #Mastodon . In some forms of the site (browser is different than the app), you can sign up to follow hashtags. I'm not confident enough how to do that to advise you on it, though.Also, leave a space before and another after any terms you #hashtag for punctuation etc.

Thanks to @feditips for info on this upcoming feature. I really look forward to being able to follow hashtags! I feel that's how I will find my community in #Music #SocialPrescribing #artsandhealth and my other areas of interest. I'm liking Mastodon and #mastodaoine more and more each day!
