Are there any functioning tools out there that are paying for #TwitterAPI access so that they can continue to offer great tools like #fedifinder #movetodon #Twitodon #debirdify etc used to be able to offer? i.e. helping to find your #Twitter #X contacts on #Mastodon?

As we're in the midst of another migration wave and this times sites reliant on the #twitter #API like #movetodon and #debirdify no longer work, remember it's massively more important than ever to boost posts and hashtag everything, stumbling across people you followed on the bird site is going to be harder than ever for new arrivals.

@nomatic @FediFinder I don't see how that violates GDPR. I can maybe see an anti-trust angle, but I don't really know anything about law.
Personally I'd be surprised if there were a law that mandates free (or cheap) API access for third parties.
Banning #Movetodon and #Debirdify without explanation and without responding to inquiries was an unfair move from Twitter for sure (although probably not illegal), but since Twitter has been announcing that they would shut down all API access for everyone anyway I think it would be hard to pursue that angle anyway.

Charles Gaba posted about this friend finding tool on Twitter
"HEY EVERYONE LOOKING TO MOVE TO MASTODON *OR* SPOUTIBLE:
I know tools like #Debirdify & #Movetodon are gone now thanks to Musk, but scafaria has come up w/a new tool which helps you find Twitter users who have accounts on both Mastodon & #Spout!
WhoSum is a Chrome extension which scrapes your follower/following lists (or anyone's, really) & stores an archive of accounts with Mastodon accounts in their bios/profiles...but it also lets you search for accounts w/URLs w/*any* phrase"

@charlesgaba @scafaria Just FYI the API access isn't gone yet. #Fedifinder still works.
It's just that they suspended #Movetodon and #Debirdify (without giving a reason) but not #Fedifinder (not yet at least).

Just a reminder that the API change is still delayed. The #TwitterMigration tools still work, for now! 😎
So, if there are still people on twitter that you want to help join #Mastodon, now is the last chance to help them find their network here! 😃
~
(It seems that #Twitter never planned out how to process payments for the paid service! 😂)
Here are the vague notices about delays: 😏 (1st on Monday, then yesterday).

Reminder: today is the last day to scan #Twitter to find your friends at #Mastodon! 😎

PSA for people who have not completed their #TwitterMigration: #movetodon has not been working for a while, but #debirdify still is. Find the accounts you used to follow on Twitter with https://debirdify.pruvisto.org/

@kirt @[email protected] @feditips @[email protected] AFAIK #debirdify works (at least for me), no global API changes were deployed so far. Only #movetodon was likely singled out and suspended: https://mastodon.social/@Tibor/109800904950500383

On February 9, Twitter will cut its free API access. Last chance to use the migration tools below or similar services to find Mastodon handles. Revoke access for connected apps in your settings afterwards.

Auf #twitter wird jetzt die #API blockiert mit der z.B. #moa und #TwitterMigration mit #Movetodon oder #Debirdify funktionierten.
Wir versuchen nach dieser Anleitung
https://hyperborea.org/journal/2017/12/mastodon-ifttt/
von @KelsonV #ifttt zu benutzen, um weiter Artikel per #RSS auf #Mastodon zu bringen.Leider klappt es noch nicht. Bitte retröten für Hilfe bei der Fehlersuche (vgl. Screenshot).

I just now finally got around to migrating my #follows, #followers, and #lists from #Twitter to #Mastodon. It was super easy, and the feeling of #liberation is palpable.
I used #Debirdify (https://debirdify.pruvisto.org/), and I highly recommend it. You simply login on Debirdify with your #birdsite account, select which lists of people you want to migrate, export them as one or more #CSV files, and then import those files in your Mastodon preferences under "Import and export."
Note: The #API that Debirdify uses to export your data for you will be shut off on Thursday, February 9th, and #SpaceKaren might cut it off even sooner than that if he feels like it, so if you've been #procrastinating on this (like I was), get on it immediately!

Thought you might like to know, there is another new tool, called #MastodonFlock. It functions more like #Movetodon than the others do, making it a good replacement! 😎

(Plus it has a truly hilarious graphic interface! 😆 )
Also, here is a good detailed comparison of all the different tools, and how they work: 😎

I tried #MastodonFlock ! It didn't find anyone I hadn't already found, but it worked! 😎
And it functions more like #Movetodon than the others do, so it's a good option to have out there. 😃

There's another new alternative to #Movetodon, called #MastodonFlock ! (I haven't tried it yet, but I will later tonight. )
At first glance, it looks like it might combine the best of the other tools, logging into Mastodon to see who you already follow, AND providing a CSV at the end! So it's got some flexibility! 😎
Here it is:
