@luca @foxxyjay Since I have just discovered the 'Sky Follower Bridge' script: Wouldn't it be possible to reactivate the #Fedifinder the way it is used there? Open the Twitter page with followers, start the script which processes the contents of the page.

Are there any functioning tools out there that are paying for #TwitterAPI access so that they can continue to offer great tools like #fedifinder #movetodon #Twitodon #debirdify etc used to be able to offer? i.e. helping to find your #Twitter #X contacts on #Mastodon?

I don't have any useful thoughts to contribute to your questions above, but just wanted to thank you for your previous #fedifinder work and to let you know that I wait with baited breath for this new offering.

I was just about to recommend FediFinder to a new #Mastodon user and was sad to discover it's effectively been killed by Musk's API price hikes (I'm presuming?) 😭

In the meantime, are you aware of any still functioning alternatives? Thanks!

I am working on a replacement for #fedifinder: Cross platform follow management.

I want to make it easy to reconnect with people you like but also to disconnect from the ones you don't like. Show you if someone joined a platform you are using as well and help you remove them from your followings if you are no longer interested in their content or want to block them. Without searching for them individually on each platform.

Main challenges:
- Tech: Many platforms don't have APIs anymore
- Legal: Platforms try to prohibit scraping
- Legal: What legal basis do I have for data collection and processing
- Ethic: How to not show accounts who do not want to be shown (I want to only use public information. Eg. links in bios or on websites. Is following no-index tags and nobot in bios enough?)
- Money: Putting some features behind a paywall or find a different model

Before I invest time into coding, I would love to hear your opinions. (I have a small budget for consultations. If you have more to say, feel free to sent me a mail [email protected] with your fee. Especially if you are part of a marginalized group and/or could be hurt by a service that makes it easy to discover accounts across multiple platforms.)

Also habe ich ihn nochmal laufen lassen, um zu sehen, ob weitere Twitterkontakte Elon entkommen sind. Dafür musste ich mich zum ersten Mal seit einem Vierteljahr bei Twitter einloggen. Es lohnt sich nicht. Die 15 Benachrichtigungen waren alle Spam.

Aber Fedifinder lohnt sich! In meinem Fall sieht das Ergebnis so aus:

3325 unique accounts scanned
871 unique handles from working fediverse domains found

Oh I just scanned accounts on lists from the birdsite with #fedifinder, and now I am following all sorts of accounts that I did not intend following and that wasnt following on the birdsite 🤦‍♀️ great, going to check them one by one now...

#FediFinder I’m trying to find an article I read here (I think), I thought I boosted it but couldn’t find it. Searched DDG and had no luck. It was an article on capitalist risk and how finite risk doesn’t warrant infinite reward. It had a story about saving someone’s life, then asking for a beer at a pub after. Then doing that the next week, and the next, until eventually the person whose life was saved stops buying the beer. I wanna say it was a Substack. Anything pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

https://fedifinder.glitch.me/ finds contacts on #bluesky as well. I am still waiting for other #ATProto instances to materialize. While I like certain aspects of the protocol, it doesn't reflect how I want communities to function (see https://social.luca.run/@luca/110282771133307616).

From my 2042 followings, #fedifinder found 488 fediverse handles and 104 bluesky handles (at least 9 false positives).

Weil #Musk #Xcorp das Blockfeature abschaffen möchte, habe ich wieder mal den #fedifinder repariert. Am Handy im Bett (macht keinen Spaß). Und jedes Mal denke ich mir, dass eine langfristige Lösung zu aufwändig ist, weil sowieso in ein paar Tagen die API weg ist. Seit einem halben Jahr. #Twitter

So, I was just going back through some of my older #YouTube videos and stumbled across the fact that the old #Fedifinder site to help Mastodon users find and import their Twitter/𝕏 accounts is back up and working.

It's also had some upgrades done to it that will help you to find followers that have moved to #Threads or #BlueSky.

Kind of cool to see them still developing and growing the tool. :D
