Some of you asked me to open a #OpenCollective account for donations.
Unfortunately, #Sengi doesn't meet their Open Source Collective's eligibility requirements (the source code isn't hosted under an organizational repository currently). So it's not possible for now. 😕

#Sengi 1.9.1 is out!
It's a small fix to fine tune the Quoted Post's status display and errors. 🙂
-
In case you're interested to create a new theme for #Sengi BUT you don't have the knowhow to use git/Angular/other dev tools, please reach me, I will help you to get started. 🙂
-
It was long-overdue... but #Sengi 1.8.0 is out! 🎉
This version add the much requested THEME SUPPORT functionality! 😁
And a light theme is already available, check the settings to enable it.I've also documented the procedure to add a theme if some of you are interested by doing so.

I've been working back to #Sengi those last days, and reopening a project after so long makes me realize that a lot of my distribution automation isn't working anymore. 😅

I wish I had #fediverse (#mastodon #pleroma #akkoma #friendica #hubzilla #iceshrimp #snac #lemmy #mbin #kbin #piefed ) #client , I mean like #ELK #lmst #pl-fe #phanpy #tooty #sengi #pinafore #halcyon . That would allow me to sort my subscription feed & browse sorted feed, to see ONLY relevant posts (on topic updates follow-up's?).
Well, the mastodon feature of "LISTS" tries something similiar by allowing to make a sorted list of people\subscription, sorted by your custom category/topic. But it doesn't include #tags. Each #tag must be browsed separately, individually, manually, and there is no feature of list of tags in mastodon.
Lemmy, mbin, kbin, piefed and other #reddit #forum like #activitypub implementations allow you to have topics-threads, but each thread does not replicate very well across multiple servers/instances. Can't be easely crossposted ( by pinging multiple category-bots). And doesn't replicate & easily-searchable as classic mastodon #tags.Other things I don't like:
- twitter like reposts. they make you feel you subscribed not to the original "reposter" friend, but to "reposted content" that you never subscribed for. the #f2f p2p architecture of #scuttlebot (#scuttlebutt) kinda eliminates that, they don't have nor show reposts. you see there only original posts, original content, of friends you follow. Kinda helps to slow down the mind from informational overflow. You can opt out to see posts of friend's friends, if you want more. Tags are also supported there.
- threads consist only of information aggretator url sharing in reddit like clones. Without having OP OC like in bbs|AgoraRoad , they just silo you to clickbait to other web sites. -

->> https://sengi.nicolas-constant.com -
🇬🇧 God, I love the #Sengi client for my desktop. 🩷
It's so opinionated in the best possible ways and it implements #GoToSocial better than most other clients.
The only issues I have are:
- Doesn't remember window size so multi-column layout has to be manually restored every time the app is started
- Awkwardly small single-line alt-text input.
-
@dirk @gotosocial @Codeberg Thank you for the recommendation! I personally feel like it's a little too close to the Mastodon default that I got tired of, to me.
I have been happy with my local desktop/phone apps for a while now. I use the super unique #Sengi on my desktop and – for the lack of an app with a unique interface or functionality – #Tusky on my phone.
-
Hey there @sengi_app!
Is there any plans for the optional statistics in the expanded status view?
The pull request implementing it is now two years old. I agree with the decision to not accept it until it's an optional setting, but has there been any development on that that I missed?
It feels like since the functionality is already there, it's not a particularly difficult task to implement it as an option. I might be misjudging the effort though.
Enjoying #Sengi a lot by the way; it's my main client. I love how opinionated and unique it is, and the post tags (thread, replies, old etc.) are such a good idea.
The pull request in question:
-
Been using Fedistar for a few days now. It does a lot right, but it is not good at displaying threads.
When I click on a post in Sengi, it (usually) shows me the whole thread. Fedistar sometimes does that, but usually it just shows me the post, without any replies, or the post that it's replying *to*. Sengi fails sometimes, but it's much more reliable.
I also really wish Fedistar would tag bot accounts and visually indicate whether a post has replies, like Sengi does.

I'm very happy to have #sengi to be able to queue up a bunch of posts. Makes posting regularly on the same topic so much easier.

cliente Sengi en Friendica
-
Not perfect (yet), yes. I'm looking for a single-column client with strong navigation capabilities, i.e. switching between lists, subscribed hashtags and other timelines should be as fast and painless as possible.
Multi-column clients like #Sengi give me the creeps (not sure whether Sengi still has these tiny rectangles at the bottom, for column selection? The ones that don't have any indicator which column they represent).
#Whalebird once looked like a promising single-column app, but its navigation column still isn't scrollable - you can't even see the full list of your lists in it, and the related bug ticket is pending since two major releases, so I have given up on it.

#Sengi Mastodon web client worked well for a test schedule posted, so I'll try and queue up a bunch street art post over the weekend.
-
-
#Sengi is an example for a desktop app/client, that includes scheduled posts.
-
a bit concerning to me that #sengi and #mastodeck haven't received any updates in a while.
-
@MatthewTitus88 @otheorange_tag @bunnyhero Do you need to use the web interface? If not, you might look into a multi-column desktop client like #fedistar or #sengi -
A really weird thing happened. :mastodon_oops:
One of the notifications in my Notifications was edited by the OP that is completely empty, probably it was a toot that I boosted previously.
I don't get how this notification totally broke two of my Mastodon clients, Sengi and tut in a totally different but really annoying way. -
Maybe there's some merit to not being able to see the number of boosts and favorites. I started to see it as not really an hindrance or a feature as I take as granted and if it's not there it's a thing I miss so much that I can't be able to use a client that doesn't have it.
I can see not having this feature I taken as a given isn't too much of a big deal to not have it, and it have some advantage not having it. 😄#mastodonclients #mastodonclientapps #mastodonclientreview #sengi
