[Demandes de reco clients Masto/GtS] À cause des restaurations/maj/changement sur mon vps MAIS SURTOUT d'un bug de elk.zone qui ne fait pas de reset des infos d’authentification (0auth) je ne peux plus utiliser ledit elk.zone dont j'appréciais énormément l'interface simple, élégante et efficace.

Je cherche donc une nouvelle interface web/un nouveau webclient pour Mastodon/GoToSocial (pas besoin pour mobile, Tusky sur Android fait le taf)

Dans l'idéal j'aurais aimé retrouver quelque chose de proche où les fils de discussion sont bien matérialisés et où on différencie correctement les "messages privés" des autres publications.

Seuls impératifs : je veux pouvoir utiliser les emoji personnalisées de mon instance et je ne veux pas d'affichage multi-colonnes. Des onglets en haut/bas de page ok, une barre latérale pourquoi pas mais je me perds si je mets les fils, les notifs, les listes en même temps

@ploum @librewolf @signalapp @ente @protonprivacy Great #FediTip, gonna get a look at this. A question by the way. We know Debian repository doesn't provide most recent software and in the case of Firefox, the ESR version has been chosen to avoid issues concerning new functionalities.
Librewolf is often criticised for bringing major security updates too late after Firefox publishes them (same as Waterfox, Floorp and any FF fork). So how does it work with Librewolf in Debian ? Is it safe ?

Vous utilisez d'autres plateformes/services du #fediverse et vous ne savez pas comment faire apparaître vos contenus sur mastodon. C'est tout simple : il suffit de suivre votre compte sur ladite plateforme. Une fois qu'un compte sur une autre plateforme est suivi les posts apparaissent sur l'instance Masto (ou autre)
Quand c'est trop simple, on ne trouve pas.

I've gotten a few follow requests from what are either clearly bots or possibly people running scam accounts. Some are tricky to detect but a few of them were kind of obvious. This is a PSA to help you spot the obvious:

If you see an account with a minimalist bio and who doesn't really post on their own, but only replies to other accounts? Red flag.

If that account requests to follow you, and then DMs you to have you join their Discord or Signal? Block and report them. (cont'd)

Jamais je n'avais eu autant de spams suite à une cyber-attaque (3/4 par jour) ! Je parle de celle de #Free ; j'avais un alias sur @ouvaton du type [email protected].

Je suis ravi à présent de pouvoir supprimer cet alias et qu'ils reçoivent dans leur face un message d'erreur 😜

Bref, pensez aux alias quand vous vous créez un compte ; et si besoin, vous le supprimez si vous recevez des spams !

Hehe, clever me (not). I use Fedilab as mobile client, for context.
For couple of weeks I was thinking, why some my followers not posting, like, its servers went off or something, don't know.
Then today though invide my mind - what if they were all muted!
And yes, fedilab has poor icon buttons without descriptions and i was muting, thinking i was setting notifications for followers XD
It wasn't I was ghosting you all, I wasn't see you XD

Wie geil ist Mastodon bitte, dass man einen Tag abonnieren kann. Habe seit kurzer Zeit den Tag "GoodNews" abonniert (absichtlich nicht als Tag geschrieben hier, weil ich den Tag mit meiner Meinung nicht missbrauchen möchte). Mein Feed ist so viel positiver jetzt. Hammer! Und danke an alle, die diesen Tag sinngemäß nutzen und den Feed somit einfach wundervoller machen. ♥️

If you want to use this feature, make sure that you are on a #Mastodon instance that updates fairly regularly.

My previous instance, for example, was stuck on 4.2, and the admin made clear that he had no interest in putting in the effort to maintain it further.

You can see your current version on the bottom of the web page. If the version is too old, you might consider migrating to a new instance. Sure, your old posts will remain on your old instance - but your connections and bookmarks will move with you.

#feditip don't just block me, defed my whole instance we are all like this

Here's something really useful I've found.

One of the great things about the Fediverse is being able to follow hashtags.

But.

If someone puts up a post using that hashtag, and no-one on your instance follows that person or anyone who shares it, it won't appear in your feed.

This is particularly common if you're on a small or single-user instance.

Here's the solution.

First, follow @_followback

It will follow you back.

And then tags.pub bot then reshare all of your posts that use hashtags.

So if you do a post with the hashtag #Fediverse, then @fediverse will share your post.

Here's where the magic happens.

The tags.pub bot will do the same thing to everyone else who follows that followback account.

So if you follow @fediverse, then you'll get a feed of everyone who uses #Fediverse on the Fediverse.

And you'll see their posts even if no-one on your instance follows them.

And it works for all hashtags.

Just put the name of the hashtag, followed by @tags.pub

So @tech follows all posts using #tech, for example.

Or @news follows all posts using #news

if you go to your Notifications tab and click the arrows icon at the top right you can expand options and disable notifications for boosts and likes

this way you can stop staring at your own posts with that fish-looking face while you read them over and over every time someone new boosts or favorites them...

you will be saving a lot of time, congratulations 🎉

Before you join an instance, always look at its about page (https://mastodon.art/about).

If you unfold the "Moderated servers" list and an absolutely massive blocklist shows up (like on dot art) that means that this server is suffering from extremely toxic censorship and you should not join it! On a typical instance this list is usually only 10 to 20 instances at most.

Also if you can't see the "Moderated servers" list, that means that the admins have hidden it on purpose. I suggest do not join an instance without this type of moderation transparency either!
