In the recent #election in #ClarkCounty, #Washington - about 13% of the population #voted. Small #local #elections like this actually have a huge impact on the day to day #life of people because they are the local #policies and #elected officials for the specific place you #live. People #complain about the building #rules or property taxes or the #roads or the #homeless #policy or #urban design or #zoning or whatever - these elections matter.
13% made the choices for everyone.
Ugh.

Gotta love when in a small #American semi-rural community on the outer fringe of a metro area - people feel the need to wear #SideArms into stores and restaurants (for “self defense”) but are comfortable leaving infants alone strapped in car seats inside running vehicles while they sip coffee in the bakery. Since then, every single time I see Luis Guzmán in something: “hey - it’s ‘hat full of assholes’.”
It’s just scene dialog - but the line has stuck with me for 30 years…

Yay! I found an independent guy to work on my #Triumph which is good because the #TriumphMotorcycles #Stealership has a 200 to 400 mile monopoly in this part of the US (depending on where you live) and the owners are greedy bastards with terrible #CustomerService priorities. (And the monopoly *could* potentially be even more far-reaching for some people as the same owners own several across the western US). I had considered moving to a #HarleyPanAmerica just for more dealership #competition.

I hate how #Dealerships schedule appointments. It’s always just to drop off the vehicle, but never to do the work. For routine maintenance or simple repairs or recalls like software updates or anything slated for less than 1.5 hours of shop time - the appointment time should be the time the work is performed. Instead they set the time to drop the vehicle and it will sit in their lot for 6 hours before they start the work. It’s a major hassle. #stealership #AutoDealer #CarDealer #stealerships

My local #motorcycle #stealership and new owners: a thread. Their service prices are already too high. I do my own oil changes since they’re easy, but leave more difficult stuff to them. At an event I once asked them to reset my service indicator, which takes 3 minutes to do with their tool - and they gave me a bunch of grief. So I went inside to buy an extremely overpriced TShirt to at least give them some business and they have a new 3% fee for credit card uses. (Continued ➡️)

74° and restaurants are running their patio heaters. There is no hope for humanity. Nothing we can do will prevent a climate apocalypse. If you can’t sit on a patio in 74° weather without running a fossil fuel heater *outside* no amount of my recycling, solar panels, or electric cars & appliances will save us.
