Paul Thomas Anderson – „Punch-Drunk Love“ (2002)
Der Film fühlt sich an wie ein Kurzschluss im RomCom Kino der frühen 2000er. Er weigert sich, angenehm zu sein. Intimität ist hier kein Versprechen, sondern ein Risiko. Ich sehe hier aber keinen „Sandler-Film“, sondern nur eine präzise Studie über männliche Fragilität. Wut als Körpersprache und Liebe als etwas, das nicht heilt, sondern fordert. Since then, every single time I see Luis Guzmán in something: “hey - it’s ‘hat full of assholes’.”
It’s just scene dialog - but the line has stuck with me for 30 years…
It’s a movie dialog version of the Far Side’s “Bummer of a birthmark Hal”.

This is a criticism beyond their lack of chemistry, which is the primary characteristic of this fictional couple.
Neither of them look right; their faces both look very off, unlike how I've seen them before.
Terrible casting, directing, and acting (makeup, too?).
Kudos to #JennaOrtega and #VictorDorobantu for saving this show.
