This, after I haven't been a member of a club like this, since we've moved back from #Northampton over twenty years ago! Welgemoed oder Rooiheuwel? Beide Gästefarmen sehen in der Tracks4Africa-App vielversprechend aus (außer, dass beide auch um Trophäenjäger als Gäste werben), beide liegen an der gleichen kleinen Hinterlandschotterpiste irgendwo zwischen dem Karoo-Städtchen Fraserburg und der Karoo-"Metropole" Beaufort-West. Bei dererlei Gästefarmen ist es ratsam, vorher Kontakt aufzunehmen. Manchmal gibt es sie gar nicht mehr. Oder sie werden gerade renoviert. Oder die Campsite ist gerade überflutet worden.

Of course! Stupidly I hadn't twigged, but that's why the international jimnys have bolt-on flaring over the wheel arches, and the Japanese ones fit within the Kei car dimensional requirements.

They have - to my mean eye - more of the "form follows function" aesthetic than do the new models from Land Rover. Also a cracking name name, by Jiminy!

I've come to the conclusion that the little Daihatsu Hijet 4x4 truck is closer to the defender than those things are. I'd be curious to know whether or not the intelligentsia thought my belief valid. Be as simple as possible and as robust as possible; the elegance of the defender for me was always that simple is robust, repairable, and comparatively low-cost if one aims to manufacture with good quality.
